I was cleaning up and polishing up my SKS the other day and I was wondering about the serial numbers on the front of the bolt carrier. I left them faintly visible when I got done polishing the bolt carrier with 600 grit paper and steel wool, just in case, but are you allowed to polish them off completely? There's a serial number on the bolt and the side of the rifle, after all, so are the federales going to get their knickers in a twist if I finish polishing off the visible one on the front of the bolt carrier? My other firearms only have one serial number on the side of the action, isn't that all that's needed, or do these milsurp rifles need to have a serial number on all their parts, lol? Just don't want to polish the number off the bolt carrier and have some cop/game warden give me a ticket or anything...answers??
