SKS & SKS-D Prices...WTF?

Man, if those Norinco factory workers in Guangdong or Beijing or wherever knew what their SKS D's were going for they'd be rolling on the floor laughing.

That or just shake their heads slowly while crouching in a back alley and smoking endless cigarettes that emit a strangely yellowy/greenish smoke.

My SKS-D (yes, I just got a new, thanks to this thread) will kick your .303carbine's ass in every aspect.

-price of ammo
-reliablility
-accuracy
-comfort
-capacity

You let me know when you wanna get it on and I'll show you a thing or two about what the SKS can do.

Wow - I love the D but you know nothing about Enfields:
Price of ammo - I'll give you that new 303 is expensive
Reliability - um - no - do a search man - the enfield has a very good reputation for reliability.
Accuracy - no - though enfields are not known as tack drivers they did make a sniper version that had a reputation of acceptable accuracy. Every try shooting an SKS at 600 yards? You'd have to aim at the moon...
Comfort - to each his own - 303 fits me perfect...the sks -d length of pull is a litle short for me - enfield is just right.
Capacity - enfield wins hands down..while you fumble with your 5 round pinned mags - johny enfield will be pumping ten rounds from his box magazine with one of the fastest bolt actions ever designed...

P.S. the enfield has much better sights...

I truly love my sks, and think it's a great gun... I regularily place well in service rifle matches, shooting against rifles worth 10 times as much.

But there's no way that the sks beats any enfield in any of the last four areas...

I love looking back at what we used to pay for these things lol..... getting old sucks
Indeed. It brings a tear to my eye whenever I look at the $1.19 price tag on an old box of .22 ammo or the empty can from the very first pound of powder I ever bought ($15.95 for a pound of IMR-4320). Those, as they say, were the days...

Reminds me of the SKS-D I bought back in the 90s, for $200 at a gun show in Brandon MB.

Took one whitetail deer and shot at several beavers, then sold it for the same price a couple years later.

One more of lifes regrets
Same. Bought mine in the late 90's as well from S.I.R I think? $149 or $179. Put it for trade here on EE a few years later for a stainless 10/22. A guy told me he would give the price of a new stainless 10/22 for it. A stainless 10/22 was selling for $299 so figured $350 to include taxes and shipping. I remembered feeling bad selling an SKS-D for $350!
