Is it just me, or are some of the prices being asked for SKS and SKS-D rifles in the EE plain crazy or what? To be honest, I haven't thought too much about my SKS over the past few years. I still have a couple of Norincos I bought back in '98 or '99 that haven't been fired yet. I think I paid a little over $100.00 each for them from Lever Arms. I picked up a couple of those "5-Pack" specials they were running then. Sold off the rest and pocketed the profits. I think they're still being sold for around $140.00 new retail price...the SKS-D a little more...so what's up? I seriously doubt China has run out of SKS/SKS-Ds, so why the crazy prices? The SKS-Ds that I've handled usually were more trouble than they were worth, so why the premium prices? Just wondering guys...I've got a Yugo that I love, so I'm not knocking the design, just kinda' scratching my head!:D

Usually when I see higher prices it also includes a replaced stock or some other added extras. And there are some people that want all their money back when they sell.

If I'm not mistaken, that latest prices for a chinese sks new is about $150-170. That's a pretty fair price in my estimation.

Used sks-D's seem to be going for about $400. Why? Because there are no new sks-D. I don't think any place in Canada has them new anymore. Anybody know if they're even being made anymore? Maybe Canada and China are out of sks-D's.

I have one of each. I prefer the standard sks for plinking, but the sks-D with a 30 round mag (pinned) has a real look-cool factor.

The SKS-D I get as they are getting hard to come by new...but definatly not the sks.

Even more so, NO ONE should be able to sell a plain jane, importmarked Mosin Nagent for over $140 as SIR sells them for that with all the accsessories

What's up with the SKS-D situation? Last time I checked they were selling for $200.00 A month or two after I saw "used" SKS-D's selling for around $150.00. Why are the D models in short supply?

The D models work and look crapier than the real 10 round models anyway so those who have them can keep 'em as far as I'm concerned ;)

Agreed Claven, The SKS D was my first rifle every, thought it was the cats PJ's until I tried a regular SKS. The Regular functions much more reliably.

selling stuff in the EE with prices higher than the dealers seems real odd to me

totally agreed on the well used ones but if a member is asking more on a recently bought one, then i wouldnt mind paying him more so he can recover cost of taxes paid and shipping.

this way i can ask him if it has matching numbers or if he has any problem with split casings.

I bought my SKS-D 3 years ago at P&D for 199.00 NIB which was a decent price. I think 400 is quite overpriced. I sold my -D and bought a regular SKS and enjoy it much more. If we did not have the stupid 5 round rule I would have a -D though and mod the stock for a 75rd drum...

I am also a former "D" owner...I bought it at Pullens for $200 + tax a couple of years ago. Got tired of farting around with the damn magazine so sold it for the same price (and yes, it went fast). Now have a regular SKS beater purchased for $75 and I'm quite happy with it - though the black paint is chipping off :)

The Norinco website still lists SKS-D's, in both 7.62x39 and 5.56x45 (!!)
