sks Tactical stock

I can't speak for the Tapco. Just bought the ATI for mine. The only glitch was, it's made for right hand shooters, and I shoot left handed. After taking a sanding wheel to the thumb ridge, it fits me very well. (didn't hurt it's looks)

The only feed-back I have for you is on the ATI, and I like it just fine.

I am looking to buy a tactical stock for my SKS just wondering which one you would recommend, tapco, ati or any other.

I have had both brands Tapco and ATI. My preference of the two was Tapco. The Tapco stock fit better and alot tighter feel. Both stocks make a big improvement, ergonomics, LOP ect. Makes the SKS more comfortable to shoot so your not all humped over like a monkey f**king a football.

choate dragunov. I picked it up at the store with no intention to buy, as soon as I shouldered it it followed me home.

Well stated, a $169.00 SKS with $500.00 worth of cr@p mounted on it, is still a $169.00 SKS

Ya, your right who would ever put more moneys worth of accessories on a gun...
I'm going to take off my 1400 dollar scope off my R-700, the gun is only a used 500 dollar gun, thats just crazy:D....will shoot much nicer with no sights at all...:p

I have had a chance to install and handle both the tapco and ATI, I much prefer the Tapco, for both fit and usage.

I have a tapco stock & like it very much. The adjustable LOP is great for different shooters and by far superior to the tiny LOP the issue wood stock has. I also like having the pistol grip. YMMV :D

Can't speak for the other brands, never tried them, but the SKS I have came mounted in an ATI Dragunov stock and it's a fun and comfortable cheap range toy.

I'm speaking from the point of someone who went through the whole business of finding the perfect tactical stock. Tapco Intrafuse, ATI Ultralight, ATI Strikeforce (non Talon grip version), and ATI Dragunov stock. Conclusion. I'm sticking with the original for now until someone makes my perfect SKS stock. They all have pros and cons.

But if I had to list these from good to bad, it would look like this:

Tapco Intrafuse
This takes top spot barely. The main reason is because the receiver fits the tightest without any dicking about and the functional collapsible stock helps with LOP problems. You can also modify the stock to store the cleaning kit and has the rail space for the Mall Ninja in all of us. Since I never used the rails, I can't comment on the durability of them. Even though the grip is bolted in separately there is a modification to disassemble without removing the grip. Feels a bit heavier than original.

ATI Dragunov
Would take top spot except the LOP is not adjustable, not as tight, and the lump on the back of the receiver cover just gets in the way. Of all the ATI stocks, most functional. Would invest in the buttpad for comfort.

ATI Strikeforce
Solid lock up and the tension bending helps tighten the receiver to the gun. It has lot of points for sling mounts (plastic) and the rails are sufficient for the rifle. It loses points for the weight added and the ridiculous width it makes the gun when folded. The weight is sort of helpful, though as it puts the balance more rearward.

ATI Ultralight
Lightest of the stocks, but the lockup is terrible for the folding stock and there is play like the Dragunov. It has a slim profile when folded, but the butt is thin so you should invest in a buttpad which increases the LOP by an inch. Made for Chinese SKS's in mind so Russian bayonet will cut you. I question the durability of the whole stock. Lots of burrs that cut into you and the grip is a bit thin.

All these stocks suffer from fit problems which is a result of the stock being made as drop ins for all SKS's. Over time, this fit problem becomes more apparent as your receiver will MOVE IN THE STOCK. This is why Simonov added a crossbolt or at least I believe so.

For those with LOP problems of the original, just add a buttpad. $10 solution to a football f**king monkey problem.

All crap. Keep the wood on it, don't be a tactifool

I always wonder why people insist on saying things like this. The guy has already thought about replacing the wood, and has already at least made that mental decision, and his question was very specific... This would be like going to a classic car show and telling people how much better their souped up import is...

Well said !

I recommend Tapco. Really well made, Sturdy and pretty cheap. Better than ATI for sure. I personally dont like the new Archangel stocks...Ive had a Tapco on one of my SKS' and it worked great.

I was going to get an archangel stock but its too expensive. Plus their mosin stocks had lots of hiccups getting out the door... I think I'll wait to see some reviews.

my plan is tapco stock with the blade cut, tapco mag, ATI gas block hand guard, magpul ctr buttstock with a 0.5" cheek riser. Gonna do a tiger stripe camo on all those bits. Paired with the magwedge rail
