SKS to SKS-D Conversion kit

My Tapco 20 rounder fit just fine in my wood stocked '54 Russian, no filing required. Some need it, some don't, and even if it does a bit of filing really isn't a big deal. Forget SKS-D's, complete waste of money. It's still an SKS and for the money they go for you're much better off with a CZ858.

No modding required to the stock for that picture I showed earlier. You need to mod the TAPCO mags them self. Check out this page for more info located on the lower right hand side of the page;

negatory my senior RR friend , i wasnt talking about the tapco mag conversion , im talking about the standard SKS to a SKS-D conversion .Laugh2

There was a "sportsman" model of the chinese sks back in the very early 90's that I. Picked up from lever arms in vancouver.
It came with the typical sling and kit, as well as 2, short mags. I think they were 5 rounders. This rifle had no bayonet and featured a much beefier chinese stock with rubber buttpad and cleaning rod under the barrel.
The action was a modified fixed mag sks with standard , slide tab mag release, welded bolt stop, milled for forward mag lip.
It functioned great withe short mags, flawless in fact.
However 30 round AK mags would drop out of the gun under recoil as the mag catch was inadequate for the weight of the mag.
The conversion would be very simple for someone with some skill and the right tools.
 
Had a chance yesterday to shot my 2 SKS Paratrooper Mc-5D, those are sweets rifles, my uncle left them to me in is inheritance, they came with each 3 30 rounds AK magazines and after shooting a 100 rounds out of each i can say that what i heard about AK magazines in a SKS was prone to jam, not on that model for sure as i did not had one jam out of 220 round, the short barrel with no bayonet lug make quite a ball of fire, nice monte carlo stock, compare to my regular SKS those have a higher fun factor, i will be ordering a case of MFS ammo, love that non corrosive stuff... JP.

The early SKS-D was a superior model to the "sportsman" that sold for $65., I bought a case but they were a POS compared to the originals, mags fell out, jammed etc,, but the old ones worked well.. Shoulda bought 4 cases @ $65, and now sold em on EE!!
