I have just got a sks that has no markings other then a stamp from the us saying it was in California la >< it has a detachable box mag that looks like its from a Kalashnikov or something (dont know what a ak mag looks like) i know its not a sks duckbill hack job the mag catch is different on those (push not pull) and the bayonet is a star thing not a blade one last thing the stock is really soft dents real easy.

i would post pics but i have no idea how or if i can.

I dont think i broke any rules by posting here. never really liked posting on forms.

Nice rifle, there are not exactly piles of those things here in Canada. We didn't get too many back when the US could legally import them and after they banned import of Chinese firearms in the early 90's it seems we got some runoff that was due to them, but not too much more. I wouldn't say it's rare, but it's certainly less than common. If it shoots and functions as well as any other SKS, which I am sure it probably will, you have a great little rifle right there. Enjoy her.

after i fought with it for about a half hour to disassemble it to see the internals i found it to be pretty clean the only "rust" was at the gas block but that just blew away barrel is in really good shape.

The stock on the other had is dented really bad from me and before so i put it in a tapco stock and tube i had for my sks-45 it just slipped right in no mods to non of them.
I dont like plastic on my rifle but its better then a stock thats get ruined by looking at it too hard like 5440fight said above.

yes agreed i liked it better in the wood stock but it gets damaged so easily that i put it in that....thing. its completely reversible (pre built tapco gas tube)
And about the background hehe what can i say its my everything bench . never really was any good at keeping things organized.

Didn't want to start a new thread for the same question

basically I bought a sks again cause it looked weird I would like some other opinions on it

ok the rifle is a Russian sks-45 but the gas block is flat not angled like my 50 or even my "D"
cover says 1950 and the tula star but they are scratched into the metal not stamped.
the firing pin is spring loaded and the barrel is not chrome lined
the latch for the cover is small with a hole plus the notch where it locks into is small about half the size of my tula 50 latch and notch
stock is laminate with the square stamp

edit: got a pic with my phone but only one the thing is dead but it just doesn't know it yet. I will try and get more later.
