Hey all,
Ive got a couple sks' that ive shot a lot of and have a blast with. Ive re-done the stocks on both and they are in good condition. I shoot corrosive and am well acquainted with the cleaning process as they remain rust free.
So im getting tired of the stock irons. Ill leave one alone probably but the other I was looking to set up for some shooting at a distance. Definately no more than 500m. It is an sks after all.
Im getting extended butt pads for both and will will be getting wartak rails for both- unless someone can suggest a better rail system.
For the one I want to change around im looking for the best bi-pod and scope options. I will again be leaving the guns otherwise stock (exception being rail and butt pad) so for bipods I think im limited to the very basic style ones that attach directly to the barrel or to the bayo lug, correct? Will the barrel attached bipod destroy the blueing? is there a benifit to either? am i wrong and those arent my only options?
For the scope i was thinking something modest and not over the top. Vortex pst comes to mind as a reasonable option. Other suggestions? Also I dont plan on boiling my scope after shooting corrosive (obviously) and dont want to cross contaminate. Will salts get on the scope? (I presume they will) Will the scope rust? If i take it and put it on my DD AR am I going to be risking rust on my AR?
Any input is great and much appreciated!! I want to hit some crown land soon and do a little prone shooting.
Thanks again,
