Hi guys how is every one? New to the are here just took my non and rpal waiting for them to get back to me. I am from miami florida and i have owned several ak-47 and ak-74. i have been looking at the cz58s and also sks to pick up for a first rifle here. I would like to hear what you guys and girls think of the cz. I have handled the rifle and i am verry surprice of the wieght difference. I have own and fired the sks, like to know if the its comparable in accuracy, i have also herd all of the problems that peaple are having with the cz858.

I've shot both and have to say I like the CZ better, and feel it's slightly more accurate at 100 yards (didn't try it any further than that), looks way better and feels better.
The SKS gets the nod, however just because of bang for the buck. It is 1/3 the price, and shoots practically as well. With the money you save getting the SKS, you can buy an aftermarket stock with a pistol grip on it, and a case of ammo!

I do like th 858 , the feel, and its so light,accuracy may be marginally better, but I went and bought an SKS-D instead, takes AK47 mags, and purchased the tapco stock.I had money left to by a crate of ammo, when I was done!

learned to shoot on an sks and now own a CZ858 last winter we went shooting on some of the most inclement days including during a ice storm and the CZ never jamed once even though it got caked in ice from freezing rain and i will tell you it does get better accuracy than an sks dont know if theres a difference with the sort barrel versions however, i would vote for the CZ.

they share the same ammo.VZ is by far a better choice over the SKS. It works, its well made, and its not a Norinco. Not to mention it looks a lot better although not an important factor. The iron sights are usable and mounting an optic is easy and solid.

Ive easily put 5000 rounds through my NORINCO SKS and Ive NEVER had a problem with it, other than the occasional dud surplus round.
man thanks for your feed back, so nice to talk to people that have the same taste in guns. I think i will pick up one of each maybe two . Curtton that build that you did on the svd look alike was amazing, i own a ak-74 romanian with a draganov stock and a pso1 scope you did amazing work.

I have a cz858, never had any issues. Eats ammo like a champ. I get better groups standing than on a bench, dunno what that's about. The barrel on the 858 looks much bigger in photos than in person. But if you are looking for a smaller riffle the vz58 might be for you.
I think the issues reported about the 858 are kind of over blown. For the price you can't go wrong, with ither the 58 or 858.

thats what i wanted to hear, i am a hard core ak guy , makes me kinda tick off that i cant buy one here but i can go back home and pick up a maddi for 300 bucks. Thank god for the cz ohh i mean the cz republic and loop holes. So you telling me that its a reliable gun. i have seen the turture test on you tube but i like to hear it from you guys

8 months and a case of 7.62 into ownership no problems whatsoever
i do have a pic of me with my romanian i will block my face this pic was im naples fl when i was 21. have been collecting and shooting ak since 1996 my dad bough my first one and then he gave it to me when i turned 18. Sorry that the pics are not good quality but my wife had these pics laminated of my glory years
