SKS vs type 81

my god type 81 threads aways get so derailed and angry, people are now posting 22lr target shooting photos.......

i found accuracy was slightly better with my type 81 then my 2 sks's, i prefer the type 81 sights, and ergonomics, however the SKS is easier to carry around and hiking without a giant banana mag sticking out.

At the last local milshoot I attended, SKS's cleaned up... I was impressed. These are average Joe's, match shot at 100m, consists of 10 rounds each standing, standing snap, prone, kneeling. The SKS guys were ringing in around 350 out of a possible 400. That's lots of 10's and 9's.

EOHC?

I can see the guys who are usually there who can shoot doing very well with an SKS.

I had my T81 out at my buddy's private range today for some fun and was able to hit the 200 yard gong a couple times out of probably 20 shots even though I could hardly see it. For comparison my Magnum Research 22 magnum with 2-7 power scope could hit it almost every shot once I figured out the holdover. I even managed to ding the 10 inch plate (might have been 12, didn't ask, didn't measure) at 300 yards once. I'm going with it being total fluke but it shows that even if it's not a target rifle the shots were all close enough to do what the rifle was designed to do, center mass shots out to 300 yards.
Once again between myself and three other guys playing with it between shooting the real rifles (Cadex 308 and 338L) as well as a couple Modern hunters and an XCR-m we had a great time. I was able to take a couple of the Tannerite 1lb tubs with my MH at 300 and a couple at 200yds. Then some skeet shooting to end the day. All in all a great day of shooting and everyone who shot the T81 had a smile afterwards and it was much more popular than the SKS that was there.
That's real world smiles and worth every penny the cheap $1000 beater rifle cost to own.

That's easy enough to fix, I got a few modded AK 5/10's and a 5/5 that make the firearm much easier to handle.

Have you ever been to a gun range at -20? You seem to be an armchair sniper. As I said post your pics and videos or gtfoh.

Minus 25 actually..... type 81 folder... 50 yrds, 5 rounds of czech ammo, front supported off bench, while looking through 1940's aviation goggles.

Lol he asked for a target picture!

Again not saying one is better then then other i really could care less what one is better. Im saying his test was bogus lol I think the t81s are cool. I have an sks and owned a vz58 also. Guns are nifty I love em all. Just dont post bogus accuracy testing and say its legit lol.

Itd be nice to see a good vz 58 vs type 81 comparison. Both 1000$ AK wannabes. I know my vz 58 is a step up from any sks ive owned.

100% loved my VZ more then any of my SKS's. My only current sks is a collector never shot and never will be... Realistically they are all just minute of man battle rifles! lol

There is a man on this forum, known to collect patches, quality equipment and cool toys who could do a CZ858 vs T81 comparison. 50m and 100m would be great.

Although I did not buy a t81 (I generally stay away from pre orders and gen1 products. Learned my lesson with the XCR-L gen1).

What exactly is a Gen1 T81? The T81 has been in almost continuous manufacture for nearly 37 years. Gen1... LMFAO.

Oh, and a .22LR benchrest rig with a scope in the summer and you're ragging on the OP for even getting out in -30 to pop a few rounds for fun. Good god. What range do you belong to? Remind me never to join there, I don't like sticks up my butt. I'll bet you glare at people who shoot strings and smile when at the range.

they are all just minute of man battle rifles!

If I hear this over-used cliche one more time, I'm gonna puke.

I forget who recently coined this here, but it's crap. 4 or 5 MOA when shooting fast and fun with crappy surplus is not "minute of man". That would be like 12+ MOA.

No military would ever use that term, and the Chinese certainly want and strive for their rifles to be as precise as possible for the cost they put into them.

So much fail by the haters.

I could, if I only had the time...But I have about 6 different ammo types...one day I will test them in the 81 and 858, but the Czech surplus shoots the tightest in my SKS...

I have barnaul fmj, Chinese surplus, norinco, Czech surplus, Romanian(?) surplus (green case red seal, looks like Russian I had in the past, but was advertised as Romanian. And I think I have a few boxes of MFS kicking around...

At some point I will do a proper SKS/858/81 comparison, with groups at 50 and 100m.

I will use czech and copper wash chinese surplus, I may also see how Hornady SST steel case does in the 81 and 858.

this thread is a ridiculous as comparing a Ford Ranger to a Dodge Dakota and then the S10 dude comes along and says his is better... :sniper:

Take the other two out back and put a bullet through their radiators.

Ranger all the way, how is this even a question?

S-10 diesel!!

I know a guy with a Ranger diesel - is that like the HK 416 of crappy (that ranger is rusted - in Victoria!) old trucks you can't get parts for? Seriously though, I think I'll get a T81 if there's another batch coming in, just because. Not really sure how it compares to any of the SKS's I've owned, or the Vz, pretty sure it's not relevant.
