SKS windage adjustment problem

I've got a 51 Tula and I just can't adjust the windage, It just does not budge. The adjustment tool does nothing. I've banged it with a hammer and punch until I was afraid the barrel would bend. I've tried putting it between two different size sockets and compressing it in a vice. I did the same twice with C clamps and the cheap one broke. Does any one have any ideas what I could do next. I cant see any clear signs of corrosion and it was probably taken apart when it was rearsenaled.

There are a bunch of tools for adjusting sks/ak front sights. The only ones that I've seen are aluminum, though, and the problem you're having is why I never bought one.

I considered making set of aluminum or brass jaws for my vise that have a recess that the whole sight unit and barrel fit into, with a pin on one side and a hole opposite to allow the sight to move when pushed. Next, I'd try an arbor press with a block to support the sight base and end of the barrel and a pin on the ram of appropriate size. A little penetrating oil probably wouldn't hurt :)

You could try either way without any kind of special fixtures it I would just be a little more difficult and would require more hands.

I have the unbreakable sight tool from Magna Matic, but mine moves easily anyway...

Well I guess you can learn something everyday.
I never knew that you could adjust for windage on the SKS.
I just looked at which way the wind was blowing and it always worked out.
Seems like a bit of a fiddly job considering the wind isn't constant enough, and the gun itself does not lend itself to what I would call finer adjustments.
Perhaps some sights just need a onetime adjustment to suit the shooter ??
Fairly tight groups all .

mine was stuck in real good. needed to put it in a vice and tap it out with a punch. it finallly came out but is next to impossible to adjust on the range.

This isn't for reading or adjusting to wind really... it's the sight-in that would be made when zeroing in the first place. Not something that would be adjusted all the time.

Same problem here. Thought I had answer. Cut off spent 7.62 casing to a act as spacer to allow sight to move. Tried vice-grips, bearing puller, vice and ball-pean and punch all to no avail.
Final solution: I aim 4" to left at 100 yds.

Take a torch and heat it up. Not cherry hot but hot to the touch. Then use your iron sight adjustment tool and move it side to side a few times to break the seal. Then use Kroil oil and work it back and forth a few times with that. Maybe yours had a little paint on it so oil won't work tell you break that seal.

Look for staking marks. The sight may be peened in place.
+1 there should be a small chisel mark where the drum is locked in place. This will lock it down where movement is very difficult.
Only solution then would be using a solid wood block, large punch and mother of all hammers. Try one way then the other.
Warning it may move which may be bad a thing. After I moved mine I had to replace the drum because it was loose and just rotated in the FSB.

Mine was tighter than tight.I just kept forcing the sight adjustment tool handle till it moved.Mine is steel.BTW

Try a little heat from a plumbers torch. Go easy do not heat it enough to change the metals color. then hit the punch with a big hammer, I used a 2.5 # ball peen to move mine.
