SKS's flying off the Equipment Exchange

$100 up or down for a gun is not a big deal. We spend way more on ammo. (primers, powder, lead, heads)

It is a psychological thing. If I buy an SKS or two today at $375. I'm afraid tomorrow they'll drop 10% and I wouldn't be able to sleep a whole week.
Are you listening to what you're telling yourself?

I've always had one. Long ago saw the value of this awesome gun.
Tried all the new flashy NR black rifles that came up over the last 10 years. Too expensive for what they all were and always went back to the good SKS.
A lot of people want them now just because it's one of the few (not yet) affected semi auto NR guns left.
I've always valued, respected and owned at least one. I got my mint Chinese one which is my main shooter now for like $150 bucks a couple years ago off the EE :D

Yea, never mind the EE, look at how many SKS came out of the woodwork lately at all the gun stores and more every day, now that the price is juicy, same bunch that said the surplus SKS, Mosin, etc: were pretty much dried up!!! Money talks, lots left in Europe if the price is right!

how come all the chinese SKS rifles are all the fixed mag , sliding mag release type?
Whatever happened to the chinese rifles with the AK type mag release..... the proper "D" models?
Why don't we see anymore imports of those rifles?

because they were not the best made ... and there is the ak name associated ...

I believe the D model was originally meant for the US market
When the import ban was brought into place in the 90s in the US I am guessing they stopped production.

I saw a nice clean D go for 1k last week on the EE
It was only up for a day

I'm not in need of a D model, I was just asking if anyone knew the what's and why's of how come there is no real D models anymore.

The D was made for the American market when the Ak started to be banded, then the D got included.
What was left of the D models came here, Australia,New Zealand and Europe.
I don't think there was really that many because the original one's had bayonets and then they made them without bayonets. But the AK magazine did them in in America before they really got into production
Even the 5 and 10 round magazines didn't help

I sold one for 650 last week...

You guys with experience regarding the collapse and wars of eastern europe are very interesting to listen to. Especially if you are noticing patterns here.

This is only slightly related to this thread but because there's always some interest in the D models I thought I would re post this again;

Back in the last days before magazine capacity limits, in 1991 at the Le Baron's Yonge St location I looked at this rifle new in the box. I had never seen an sks before and I was going to buy it but for some reason the bayonet turned me off, what was I thinking?

From the 1991 Le Baron's catalog:
