Just finished cleaning up the shotgun, and have been thinking about how far removed the powers that be are from the day to day lives of farmers. Two nights ago was just going to bed when I heard some growling coming from a old shed so grabbed a light and the shotgun and went to look. Was two coons fighting over what was left of the cat food. Got one and thought I got some in the other but he got away. Tonight I just had fed the cats and was looking at something when I heard some crunching behind me, when I looked around there was a skunk eating the cat food. Went to the house and got the shotgun. Hated to shoot him in the shed but sometimes if you hit them in the spinal area they don't piss, so blasted him. Was watching and waiting to see if he had pissed or not when another one came from around the corner and then another one. Anyways had to shoot quick as they were heading for the door so got them all but man talk about a stink. I suppose there are people who would say, well why would you shoot them poor little rascals. They were not hurting you, and so on. Well fact is they all carry rabies at times and the more there are, the more chance. As well I buy cat food for the cats, not coons and skunks. Point is, I wonder if any of these liberal gun control people have any idea of what its like in the real world.

when I landed back on earth.....
