SL8-PSG, thought I'd share

Thanks for the kind words and approval gents.

The balls for such a project came from years of building and finish carpentry. When you have to cut lumber that cost $$$$, weeks to get and can't be replaced....you learn the value of measure 15 times cut once and to think like a chess master (think every move out for the entire project before even making the first cut) :D

If anyone would like to see pictures from the whole project just let me know and I'll edit the OP.

Prepare yourself for years of CGNers asking you to do the same for theirs. :)

Let me be first!

You would be the 3rd ;)

You sir a a real a class gun nut! Thats a real good job, you did fix 90% off the suck of that gun like they said!

One more thing, how comme almost every time i need info on a gun, see a nice picture of a gun I like or a picture of a gun like mine but with cool mod or a informative topic you alway got a share of that ? :)

can't tell you cou:

I also had a question. Was the stock full or hollow?

Completely hollow. Once the cut were made wind could pass right through it.

Dude you're f**king impressive.

Funny, it's usually the women that say that.:dancingbanana:

So with what did you fill the gap you cut open?

I used aluminum flat stock 1/8"x1" and cut it down to fit inside. The grip support had a point on it and the stock supports, 3 of them, were butt joints. The aluminum was initially held in place with a metal/plastic glue then filled with JB Weld before the polymer was heated and folded.

I'll post pics of this later today on the OP.

You gun just became 1000% more evil in the eyes of the anti's! Seriously do you know how much safer thumbhole stocks are??

Nice job! :)

Sweet!

But if the gun came that way from factory, it would have been restricted by the nannies for sure.

Kirk

No it wouldnt have its no different in the eyes of the law here in canada... that stock is due to a US requirement not a Canadian one.

Awsome job fireball. That really does make the rifle look better and it should handle better too even though I have to admit it was surprisingly decent even with the thumbhole.

So I think I know now why project build some gun racks for Epoxy7 always gets pushed back. Bugger. :p

you know, you can probably make a bit of money offering to convert other SL8 stocks to that congfiguration. Hell I know you got a lot of request from others to get that done for them.

The only way to profitably do that would be to get a company like Robertson composite to manufature new ones from molds. Even then the numbers would have to be very high. Converting them takes too much time to be worth it comercially.

The SL8 I don't think is around in the numbers required especially woth new rifles now competing.

I thought of this a few years ago after seeing a few of these projects but it didn't look profitable. Firebal has a cool custom stock. That's difficult to make or buy. Which makes it even cooler.
