Slob hunter rant

Last year at the end of a gravel road allowance some "hunters" so to speak had shot 5 mulies as near as I could tell and gutted and skinned them at the fence line. K it was in tall grass but not 5 feet away was a sharp embankment that would have worked better...Then nothing would have been seen...but then the yahoo's took all the hides and hung them on the fenceline. When I seen it I flipped all the hides off the fence line and down the embankment.

Then the next weekend north of town I hit a well used road and seen a #### load of magpies and ravens. Thought hmmmm a road kill...NOT...some more idiots dressed out a bunch of deer on the side of the road. Not in the ditch but the side of the road and left the gut piles right there for all to see. Funny thing is that 20 feet away was a approach into a 1/4 with no gates and no signs on it and they could have done it behind some trees and on the edge of a bush line.

Any wasted meat is sick to me. i dont hunt for trophy's i hunt for food. if the buck is big and has lots of meat (or doe for that matter) its going to get a clean bullet through the heart.

my parents let one gentleman hunt their land years back. the guy shot a buck. and his buddies said you have to leave it a while before going to get it. he took that as come back tomorrow and find it. he couldn't remember where he shot it. or where he was sitting when he shot.

he was not so politely told how stupid he was and to not come back he was banned. they haven't let anyone hunt their property since (people still hunt it as they see muzzle flashes out the back door around dusk at times.)

we get the trash and other crap left around our forest as well it makes me sick as our horses wander around down there when its not hunting season.

Around my land during deer season the gravel road looks like the trans canada hwy.Don't these bozos know you can't road hunt ? Infact according to the manitoba reg's vehicle use is not even allowed to search for game as stated. It is illegal to hunt from a vehicle. For example, a vehicle may
not be used to search for, locate, “push bush” or to flush out
game under any circumstances. Vehicles may only be used to
transport hunters, supplies or equipment to or from a hunting
area. In most, but not all areas, vehicles may be used to retrieve a
big game kill by the most direct route.

Stuff I have seen, esp since moving here from NS, is the complete lack of respect for all of the land, people, and natural resources.
It shocked me that people walked out of grocery stores and left their cart in the space beside them instead of returning it to the cart corral, recycling in my town was unheard of (took another 4 years to get started, and they still don't collect for compost!).
8yrs ago, I found a nice little-used road that led back into a decent clearing that had become a meadow. Took several deer from that area. This past Jun, I went in and the place was chock full of trash!! Truckloads of household garbage, furniture, "clean out the house and replace with new" crap!! We have a dump here in town!! Why can't we go to it? So what if it costs $10?, don't even start me on the local "animal parts dump". Seems everybody simply goes outside the base and dumps their stuff off of their truck, it isn't even off of the road enough to disguise it. just a small stand of poplar between it and the road.
As for "road-hunters"...Ahhhh...have to stop, going to stroke out!

Thanks for the rant thread. I wish more people would listen.

I heard a shot around 9:00 pm one night this year. WAY past shooting time up north. Next day found a small gut pile. Looked like a calf moose (not open for a week yet at that time).

Pretty sad but still not as bad as other years.

If you guys havent noticed things are getting worse in all walks of life not just the hunting aspect. Kids are beating, raping and killing other kids. Adult men are prowling around looking for 12 year old girls to name a couple of sickning deeds. This has been common in the big cities but has now shown its ugly head in rural SK and Ab. Problem is that people only care to please themselves...plain and simple. Whether its to tresspass, steal trail cams, kill or wound animals and leaveem...you name it. People need to treat others as they would like to be treated and treat Gods creation with respect...whether it be animals or the land.

There is frick all land to hunt on in Southern Ontario. New to the area, I went to several farms and asked to go on their land. Pretty much rejected by most even though I have insurance and a reputation which I need to protect, I'm told it's because they've been previously bitten by hunters shooting holes their barns and other stuff and leaving crap all over the place. Thanks for coming 'round, Doc, but the wife says no.

As well, I'm a member of a conservation authority so I can hunt on their land, and they've been pretty accomodating.

This year some morons have gone around shooting the crap out of the signs on the land, bullet holes through the CA's signs everywhere.

Pretty soon that type of behaviour is going to mean there'll be nowhere to hunt.

The sad thing is that there are 1000's of hunters that leave no signs at all of being on the land but nobody notices them, it's the idiots that ruin it for the rest of us. Always has been and always will be the case. -sad-

but it will not matter to these a-holes.as they will continue to hunt as they donow without permmission and or ethics.only the ethical/non-a hole hunters will suffer.

^^well, I hope that includes me ;)
Another day, another rant to add. Again toward disrespect to property. I am "on" the executive of our local gun range. we put out 4' frames to put your targets on , reactive gongs from 100 all the way out to 500yds, keep the shooting lanes clear, build solid benches to shoot from, and the damn as$holes still shoot the signs, flags, and the barrels we use to burn the used targets and stuff. Not to mention the number of people who go out and shoot computers, DVD players, video games, televisions, and other household junk and then just leave it there for someone else to clean up!! Nor do they even pick up their brass!! Well, actually, that's fine for me since I'll pick that up and reload it or haul it to the city for scrap, but the steel x39mm cases are just left there by the hundreds!
Also, all the wet weather we had this year made lots of stuff very soft. Instead of staying on established trails, I see where lots of people just created new ones. Even in designated green spaces within communities!! I believe that these people should be identified and not be allowed to breed!

Here is Sask I think it is an issue with enforcement. Not the fault of the CO's but the lack of resources that they have. They can only stretch their budget and manpower so far so the result is leaving the locals to their own devices. They have also extended the roles of the CO's and doing some of the RCMP duties has fallen on their plate.

So I do not seeing it getting any better , or soon there will be no areas left to hunt. Find a good area that has very limited access to, get permission and do your thing. I am on crown land and have been fortunate enough not to have any major issues. I think that myself and the other fellows in the area may have almost pushed out the poachers just from spending so much time out there, they don't like to be watched. Although during archery season last year I watched them walk a cut line with rifles. Ran into one fellow with his LA scoped rifle in Sept, he told me to be careful he had buddies hunting, yeah cause me and my bow are a real threat.Said "ain't it a bit early for rifles?" he response was "well you know how it is". BUT on the same note one fellow I did come across during rifle season was walkin a trail with his call and antlers said he came across my stand and said that he was gettin the heck outa there cause he knew I was on my way and didn't wanna leave his scent around.

But again, most folks are okay, it's the ones that figure it is their right to "hunt" this way.

its pretty sad when things like this happen.. on arfcom theres a pic of a deer a guy shot with a rifle had an arrow sticking out its head

That could be a different story. Maybe the hunter accidently pulled his shot or something and it happened to hit the head?? Accidents and mishaps happen but when you see a dead buck with tracks going up to it and away from it...come on

Why do you guys bother posting this stuff, it does nothing to deter the slobs, just makes all hunters look bad.
What I could never understand is hunters making up stories to make us all look bad. I'm sure there are some of those in this thread.

Because if we don't police our own the government will be as happy as hell to do it for us!

Sticking your head in the sand and pretending the problems don't exist is a piss-poor way to deal with an issue.
