A friend sent me this, so I thought I'd post it.

It's the Laugo SMG from Slovakia. I think it is roller locked prototype.

It evolved from a sheet metal version from 2002, but now is plastic.

Old version took a CZ-75 mag, it seems.

It is meant to be replacement for Czechoslovak Skorpions in police and armed forces. Some stats:

caliber: 9mm luger
barrel length: 160 - 424 mm
weight: under 2kg
extremely simple - only 27 parts
magazines: 10 - 20 - 30 bullets

I like. If priced right I would buy one in a heartbeat. I find the 9mm SMG types (sorry do not know correct PC terminology) such as the FAMAE SAF, TP-9, and others to be pretty expensive for what is essentially a big pistol with half the mag capacity, but I do like them.
 
Mechanism

as far as I know it si not locked or semilocked but dynamic mechanism.
They should be produced with short and long barrels in semi auto only and full auto.
But if they are in production I do not know.
 
I'd be interested in one, but given the current laws, only if it accepted 10 rd pistol mags, like the prototype with the CZ75 mags.
 
Two things steer me away from firearms like these. They're too expensive for what you get and the 5-round capacity thing kind of makes it not worth it either when I could buy a couple of handguns for the same price and get more functionality. I mean I don't mind spending that kind of money on an AR-15 because it's versatile and I can shoot long distance or short distances with it, but with these semi-auto SMG conversions, there's only so much you can do with them.

LOL, ok. My point was more that the damn things cost squiddly to manufacture and they rape us on the price. I don't know who's getting rich, but surely the costs of importation aren't that high or they could't sell a bazillion SKS for less than 200$. Price em down a bit and you'll sell 10 times as many.
 
I guess the bigger picture is, how much money is invested to make a gun for $75 worth of material and labour???

The economies of scale are a #####. The mold you make for the part could cast a million pieces, or 1000. The mold costs the same and is amortized proportionally.

I like the looks of the gun, but like the man said, it's a great big pistol at twice the price and half the capacity. If the stars align and those to issues look like less of an issue, we find room in the budget.
