Small, light, black bear and deer carbine?

action doesn’t matter so much, well I wouldn’t mind an autoloader if I could think of a short and light one.

I forgot about those 7600’s. Maybe a 7600 police carbine be about it if I could find one for a fair price.

Levers are great, but loading gate is a bit of a pain compared to a detachable magazine

Browning BLR has detachable mags.

A Win 94 in 3030 sounds about right.

Edit - I see you want detachble mags

How about a Ruger 77/44?

Short, light, stainless, detachable magazines and a big ol 44mag bullet

The Ruger American Ranch in 308 from Cabelas? 16" barrel, 5.5lbs. Handy, light, and plenty of power.

Only issue is no sights, but you could put a red dot or one of those SeeAll sights on it.

How much ooomph do you want? Very hard to beat the Marlin, Rossi or Henry 45-70. A little less recoil - any of the 92's in 44 Mag, 45 LC or 454 Casull. For the ultimate maneuverability get a Ranch Hand with a full length stock.

Baikal sxs 4570 is what i generally carry while bear baiting. Last go round i carried a jrc in 9mm. Although heavier with the gear i have on it you can lighten them up. They come in 40 and 10mm although rare up here. I prefer the build design and quality of the jrc over other pistol cal carbines. Mine rode on the front of my quad for over 600 miles. Still held zero and ran flawlessy even though the fine dust had turned it grey. I washed it in a creek once in the 10 day trip

A henry lever in 41 mag or 44 mag would certainly work. The loading tube is quick once you use it a bit

Agreed. The Rossi RH jobs are a peach for workin' in tight quarters & if I had one back in earlier times, then my favorite Model 94's would have seen a tad less hunting time.;)

HVA 30'06 carbine with 20.5" barrel.
Tradex still has several on their website.

That would be a great rifle for overall hunting. I have a Mauser Swede cut down to 18.5. Nice rifle, but it would not be my first (or top 4) choice for what the OP wants. Carbine length lever (1) or semi(2). Shotguns - pump (3), coach gun (4) - although I'm not sure between 3 and 4. Less chance of issues with a coach gun, but only 2 shots.

But, guns are like cars or women. Every man has his own preferences.

Ruger Scout with 16.1" barrel
Checks all your boxes- Light and handy, iron sights, and detach mag for in and out of vehicles.
