Smallest handguns in Canada?

There are a handful of restricted that were converted out of 12-6 territory, and/or had special "Canadian compliant" barrels made.

Makarov and bersa thunder come to mind.

If you reaaaaaaally want you could import a block sub-comp and get a different barrel for it. Lots of CFO talks but it could be done

The smallest handguns in Canada are prohibited.

One of the best features of handguns is that they are all small

I prefer smaller handguns, so 3/4 of my handguns were prohibited by barrel length.

That said, my smallest handguns are used for recreation.

My sidearm is a 1911, and has been since well before there were prohibited handguns.

I saw an old dealer thread about Them Bringing in Glock 27's with a 4 inch barrel that had been milled to be a muzzle device. God i would jump on one of those if they came back.

I worked with a guy who had been a serious contender for a slot on the Canadian Olympic Team shooting .32 calibre handgun, then took a 10 year pause to have a family etc. He'd sold all his competitive handguns but still had all the precision reloading stuff for .32 competition and was eager to get back into it once his kid was in jr high... despite being a guy who actually knows the parts of Canadian firearms regulations that only apply to him, I had to be the the one to break the bad news to the future Olympic champ that his calibre of choice and extensive training had been prohibited in Canuckistan.

Maybe one of the smallest readily available, but not the smallest. HK P7s and Boberg XR9 are smaller yet.

Yup. Restricted HK P7M8 comes in at 105.24mm barrel length. Glock 48 is factory spec’d at 106mm.

Smallest for whom...? For the average about to turn his life around urban thug, the only thing limiting the size of the gun is his wallet and personal interest.

My dream gun is a PPK but unless I decide to become a criminal I can never own one that isn't horribly disfigured. It's absolutely infuriating that the difference between a fun day at the range and a trip to prison is 1" of barrel.

Well you are wrong on that, his Olympic grade 32's are exempt from the ban, so he can get back into it , there was one listed a while back on the EE

Some models are exempt are some are not exempt. It's been a few years since they updated the approved 32 target pistol list. So there's some newer ones that can not be imported at this time.
Sheer laziness on thier part.

Yes , if you wanted a new model ,I guess, I am more into the 1911's these days. I suppose used stuff would be the norm. Have they ever up dated it? Not that I recall.

I assume it is GLOCK you are talking about? In that case, you dont need ANY "talks with the CFO". Just buy a gun and over 105mm barrel and have the importer bring that into the country!
