Smallest, most compact Pistol available (Updated Criteria).

Just for fun I stuck my Browning 1911-22 in my jeans pocket ( at home of course ) could hardly see it and it is light and reliable. Not aware of any add-on stuff for it other than mags.

This on is pretty small

Shoots nice too.

The only one that offers a significant difference is the Boberg. But your criteria on cost at sub $1000 kills that option.

Of the "normal" semis I find that the CZ 75 is pretty slim for the upper but a trifle fat on the grips. But give it its due that it fits a lot of folks well because of that. But since it's an all metal gun it's rather weighty. Of the lot the slimest and lightest is likely the Ruger SR9. Although the Springfield XD is pretty flat as well. But it's a little taller and longer.

Oh, almost forgot. The Tokarev is DARN small for a restricted. It's just about as long as a 1911 but it's shorter and very slim. Being all metal it's pretty heavy though

Although it doesn't have the shortest barrel, the Tokarev TT-33 is pretty damn small. Grip and thickness would be great for carry.

I'll see yoru Tokarev and raise you a Makarov!

The Boberg is the smallest restricted firearm which I have seen. The one I tried shot well. If size really matters, it would make sense to raise your upper limit.

But this pistol looks amazing! Are they available in Canada?

Interammo has Makarovs as above around $400.00 I think. I have one in 9mm short and it is a nasty little pistol.

I know its over your budget but I'd go Boberg or HK P7' I sold my last P7 for $1100 a year ago.

On the cheap side I picked up this FEG PA-63 in .380acp ( Walther PP Clone ) $420 at a gun show last weekend. It's been rebarelled to restricted and it's pretty darn small, it fits in the pocket of my jeans no problem. This would be hard to find in restricted though.

Someone suggested a FMK, I have one arriving today or tomorrow and will have to compare its size to other Handguns I have. They are pretty cheap as I picked mine up with only 20 shots down the pipe for $360 shipped off the EE.

Ok, so wondering what the smallest (most compact) legal (restricted not 12.x) pistol available in Canada with the following criteria.

Under $1000
Semi auto (not a derringer)
Readily available ammo (9mm, 22, etc)
Reliable
Available accessories.

My first thought was the S&W MP-9 with the smallest back strap. Other suggestions please!

I have a CZ75 P07 Duty that could easily fit in the front pocket of a pair of pants. [not that i would ever EVER condone/suggest]

first ones that came to mind are the Browning 1911-22 and the Walther P22 both seem like toys when I hold them, they're just so small.

Maybe that's because you have huge hands. :p

I think you are making yourself a CSEC target with your question, and you can probably expect a quad-copter to begin following you.

The tinfoil is thick with this one. ;)

Browning 1911-22, I just bought one. Cycles 22 subsonic and I think when I get a few hundred standard rounds through it will cycle quiets. Awesome little gun.

Let me know what you think, that one is pretty high on the list for me.

Absolutely, I'm anxious to shoot it. I know the .380 cartridge is kinda wimpy but I like the idea of it in a small thin pistol package like this. I also picked up a set of Rose Wood Grips for it I'm waiting on to arrive and I'm gonna machine up a thread protector that follows the contours of the slide.

Any word on the FMK and how it compares?

I wouldn't call the FMK a compact but it is a fair bit smaller than my G17. The trigger on the FMK feels horrible but I believe it has a safety that prevents dry firing if there isn't a case in the chamber so I'm gonna try it later tonight with a snap cap after work and see if there is a difference. I'll post some pics for comparison too.
