Smith 17 - K22

On the Pachmayer grips I suggest you find any revolver with them and try it in your hands first. I find them to be rather too flat from side to side and very deep front to back. As a result the only contact areas for my grip is the front and back straps with no real support on the sides. So it not only feels odd but I don't find I have the proper support for consistent shooting for any sort of timed action shooting event. For slow bullseye anything works since you can adapt. But for action shooting they don't work for me at all. And while in slow paced shooting we can adapt they still don't "feel" right for me. There's no doubt that some folks love them though. So you really want to try before you buy in that case.

This is true and everybody is different. This is exactly how I like my grips to be. This way, my revolver also feels like my 1911. And also how I hold my Glock.

Gdawg!
Another classy purchase! The K-22 brings back fond memories! I shot the 6" ones as my first time into handguns almost 30 years ago. 25yds, one hand, indoor range. Never failed, accurate and well made. Wish I actually bought one. What about the Pachmeyr grips?
Geologist, I had the 2.5" 19 once. Wish I kept it. Smith made great revolvers once. The 2.5" and 4" K frames, the 1.8" J frames and the 4" N frames were gorgeous. Nowadays the weird R8s and comps and rails just ruin the looks of the classics, only IMHO.

I'm with you. Some of the new performance centre stuff, though no doubt well made, is a little too superfly for me.
I'll have to check out the Pachmeyrs.

Very nice gdawg, I like the long barrel on it. I love mine with the 6", but you should shoot that off a bag at 50 yards, I'll bet you get some damn good groups!

Threw one out about the beretta 71 being the best 22.All good and a sweet one.Save for the Korth and a couple of maybe's the 17 is one of the dominant
22's in all barrel length's .
