Smith and Wesson Model 10 help!!!

I can't agree with that advice. The bench vise or pliers can easily bend, or mar the finish of the ejector rod. The drill chuck has 3 points of contact, so it is less risky. But I believe the correct tool is the way to go for anyone that intends to disassemble these revolvers routinely. There are several on the market that are reasonably priced.

No, the bench vice is far less likely to mar or bend the rod then the drill chuck will, as it's fully supported. The drill chuck is a good idea too, but trying to tighten it down on a small diameter rod with leather over it will be tricky, and not support a very large section of said rod, and then you'll be holding the cylinder in one hand , the chuck in the other.

The vice will have full contact on both sides of the rod, allowing you to turn the cylinder
