Hey all,
I did a search and didn't see any threads on this topic.
I have an Smith and Wesson MP9. It was my first pistol. It's a few years old, has a few hundred rounds through it. The trigger is pathetic. There is literally a .5 inch of trigger travel. I did some mods and it is way better. I got the pull weight from about 9 (Seriously) down to 3.5-4lbs, and the reset is nice, but I still HATE it.
I also have an SR9, which, for at most a couple hundred bucks more, came with a respectable trigger, nicer finishing, better sights, safety features, etc.
Is the MP9 worth the upgrade? I can put an Apex Flat faced forward sear trigger kit in it for $300. Videos show minimal travel. It would be a dream in comparison.
My dilemma? Do I put a $300 trigger in a $600 gun that is selling used for $600 with the trigger upgrade? Or, do I cut my losses, keep it around for the hell of it and buy something that comes with what I would expect from a reputable manufacturer?
I am happy with what I got for the price I paid for the SR9. The MP9 I feel I'm stuck with a gun I don't like, or I have to put more into it than it's worth to get it to perform its basic function decently. If I do the upgrade will it stand up next to something else I could get, a Shadow, Walther, or Sig, or will I just feel like I put lipstick on a pig?
I know these are used in comps, and some shooters love them. So, it's not a throw away. I guess I am just pissed that the trigger is Sooooo unbelievably bad.
Have you upgraded? What are your thoughts?
