Smith & Wesson Victory 22 vs Ruger Mark IV 22/45

If you have medium to large hands you may find your pinky hangs a bit on the Victory.

That reminds me. Feels like the safety is in the wrong spot on all of them.
Cant count how many times I have seen people that are new to shooting any of those guns accidentally put the safety on during their string.

To all those saying buckmark, while they are nice guns, I'm not a fan. My 2 choices are the only 2 I'm considering.

Cool. At least you considered it! I was lucky to get a Buckmark Camper UFX for I believe is a decent price at $399. I believe I did good to get it instead of a GSG 1911-style rig...
The Ruger Mark IV was indeed on my list, trust me! That would have been the one I wanted, but cost was my main driver....the wife bought for me as a X-mass gift!

Appreciate the opinion. Right now the victory is on sale for 399 from a site sponsor, and the mark iv 22/45 target is 440 at another sponsor. Add a front sight and itll almost be a 100 dollar difference, the biggest factor in me leaning towards the ruger is the ease of field stripping, I hate needing a tool to take apart a gun (i made sure my 1911 had a GI guide rod for that same reason).

I wouldn't even consider a ruger if they hadn't come out with the mk4, anything that takes longer than a couple minutes to take apart for cleaning is not a gun for me.

Yup, they can be a cast iron #####. But in all honesty, once you have done it a couple of times, it is easy. The biggest issue most people have is not reading the directions on how to get it back together. For those people, they make speedstrip kits.

The MKIV is interesting, but the new system is a little suspect to me from a wear and tear aspect. That and the fact that a MKII really is a snap once you get onto it.

I'd probably own a Ruger too, but zero consideration for anything less than MKIV.

Factory sights and trigger are great on Victory.

I researched the Smith a lot and it's got pretty much rave reviews. I've played with one too and it's a quality piece, especially on sale with the threaded barrel. My friends with subsonic ammo and a very aggressive shrouded break is quiet as you want haha.
