Does smoking interfere with a good hunt?

One of the best stalker-hunters I know stinks so bad of cig smoke you can smell him 10' away  GO FIGURE

No I don't smoke, either! actually detest it & the smell

I hear the old story from smokers saying it doesn't make any difference and that the deer are attracted to the smoke. They say they have shot deer with a smoke in thier mouth or sitting around a camp fire.
This is just nonsense the only reason that smokers were successful is because of other factors, like the wind or the dogs or other hunters etc.
I wonder how much more successful these guys would be if they didn't smoke,

I've actually seen my Dad shoot deer...sitting on a log...boot off...coughing his head off and smokin. And more than once. Deer dont seem to be bothered by tobacco smoke...aromatic tobaccos like pipe and cigar may actually attract their curiosity.

This is nothing more than creative $hit disturbing. The smokers will say what their actual experiences are. The non-smokers will chip in with what? If they don't smoke, how could they possibly know if it affects the hunt?

BTW, its day 12 after 17years of 1-1/4 pack a day.

May not hurt but I cannot see how it would help!

Btw, what about all the forest fire started by smokers? That dosen't help hunting!!

Let's get creative! how about the health care costs we are all burdened with due to the illnesses contracted by smokers and those exposed to second hand smoke???

Troutseeker

Lets not leave out the healthcare costs related to alcohol, Then the effects of drinking and driving accidents etc, Then we have domestic violence thanks to alcohol.

Now back to smoking while hunting, Im not sure it matters some say it does but I shot a 6 point buck 2 years ago, I just lit up, I was on a trail about 50-60 ft from a creek. brush was so so, he He just walked the side of the creek it was weird because he never seemed to know I was there???

first off, i don't smoke and am not defending smokers, but i do not believe that smokers are a burden on the healthcare system simply because they smoke.

anything short of accidental or immediate (or nearly immediate) death is a burden on the healthcare system.

i highly doubt that dieing of lung cancer at 60 is more expensive than dieing of any other condition whether it be a result of livestyle (eating too much, smoking, drinking, lack of exercise, etc) or not (alzheimer's (sp?) or whatever).

it would be interesting to know how the so called "sin taxes" make up for the "drain" on the system compared to "freebees" like: diabetes and obesity (from diet), occupational exposure at work, living in a city (poor air quality), etc.

but back to the poll, i doubt the actual smoke makes any difference in the woods. the motion would i think though. but, burning a cig might make less movement than a figgity smoker having a craving.

Cigarettes is one thing, what about smoking pot? How does that affect your odds of getting at game?

It hurts a bit for deer, but your chances of bagging one of those elusive four-coloured north american yodelling elephants goes waaay up.

Plus - if a deer does show up it'll actually talk to you, and it's always harder to shoot an animal you've had a conversation with. Especially when it makes such good points.

Smoke or don't, if it affects hunting, I have not seen it, certainly there are many smells that deter,,,

more importantly joe-nwt,
BTW, its day 12 after 17years of 1-1/4 pack a day.
EXCELLENT man, tough it out, very few know the pain and #### your going through, keep it up man!
