I dont believe smoking affects hunting.....scent control is wind direction. Putting on "no-scent" deodorant and washing your hair in baking soda is just silly........the guys that smoke know its bad for them, but they do it anyway so there is nothing you can do about it.
As for it lessening their chances at game, I doubt it makes any difference. If an animal winds you, it doesnt matter if you smell of smoke or garlic sausage, he may run or he may not.
