Smoothest Action

Is there anything an gunsmith can do to improve an action?
I have a Ruger, nice rifle but the action is a bit sloppy. When I try to cycle it quickly it jams if you don't push it just so, not very forgiving.

How about the Lee Enfield. There is a reason why it was the fastest bolt action in the militry!:D

i'd say the US Krag Jorgensen is just a bit slicker, i have yet to find a smoother cycling rifle, sporting or military, then that 107 year old Krag!

One of my boys has a Krico in 30'06 which is slicker than snot on a door knob.

I've got an 1574 Anschutz built on the short Krico action. I don't doubt that there are slicker actions but this is a good one. It makes my Tikka T3 feel like it has sand in it by comparison.

You need to get out more...a T3 is like sandpaper compared to a Steyr or a Sauer 202.
Uh...I love Sauer rifles and like Steyrs as well. However, let's consider price differences. The Tikka can be had for basic Rem700 money. A basic 202 is oh just about 3 times that at bargain pricing.

That's not the point. The question asked was "What is the smoothest bolt-action?", not "What is the smoothest bolt-action for the money?". Therefore, the cost of the rifles is a non-issue. For that matter though, I'm pretty sure my CZ550 is smoother than my T3.

Have 3 and all you have to do is tilt the gun and the bolt will glide open or closed... Very Smooth. My Sako can't compare to them..
