Snapshots from Syria: AK wins and fails

What happens if an MBT with a full complement of reactive armour is hit with an RPG / IED in a heavily contstricted area, such as a steel reinforced structure, tunnel, narrow alleyway with high ramshackle structures?

I wonder if there will be renewed interest in HESH - like warheads in response to the developments in the various types of reactive armour?

Also, if the enemy know your reactive armour is the explosive kind, would a large flame weapon in a constricted area play havoc with the tank, (as well as the entire surrounding area)?

All those cigarettes stunt your growth. That Kid is probably 16y/o.

Plus he has a wedding ring on. Must be married with kids he has to fight for.
They are fighting a fricking civil war without any western support against a state supported by Russians. I have no problem seeing young teenager fighting. Anyhow, as it was mentioned in Lord of War, "a bullet from a 14 years old is just as effective as one from a 40 years old".

...and Russian and Ukranian X-pats...cough...teapot...cough...

for what it's worth, the reports of exactly -who- are picking up arms are widely spread.

you'll read that it's 95% "islamic terrorists" somewhere, but go to one of the blogs or websites where material has been written by the photo journalists who have been in the action with the rebels, and you'll see that they report accountants, school teachers and defected soldiers fighting this war.

And we believe everything they say....

i'm not saying who to believe, i'm saying there is other information to consider.

i am by no means informed about the situation, i've just been doing some reading recently.

in all reality, i'm sure it's a split between the "sharia law freedom fighters" or islamic militants, or whatever bandwagon hopping into the next conflict...and the people actually fighting for their freedom and rights from an oppressive regime.

kind of a moot point with a flame thrower. the reactive armor is not going to hurt the tank if it goes off. And to be close enough to use a flame weapon your in shrapnel range of the reactive armor detination. that and it's not like it will cook off s soon as flame hits it, its going to take a while.

At around 21:30 a T72 takes a RPG 29 round, damage is shown at 26:00. The reactive armor saved the tank but damage was still done to the track, fender and road wheel.

I am not so sure -I am not privy to the modern techniques, nor have I slept at a holiday inn express recently.

If your firebombing a tank its not to set off the reactive armor (since it will only do superficial damage and ultimatly the danger of it is to "soft" targets standing near by not the vehicle its protecting), its to either 1) cook the crew 2) set off the ammo and fuel destroying the tanks or 3) both.

I was wrong its a M79, launcher. it has the same penitrating power as a CG 84mm heat rap round

for the record its not like nato is using anything drasticly better. even the TOW, javlin and eryx missles are old now. Canada has dissused the tow missle because they wern't enough bang for the buck and went back to the 1948 CG 84mm recoiless (with newer rounds of course) for our dismounted solution to armor.

PS: I messed up the inbed link, hit the "wrap" button

I will see and raise you both ;)
