Sniper calibres?

I would expect that we will not only see Canadian Police Departments make available bullet designs ranging from FMJ to fragmenting bullets as well as heavier calibers for added penetration as we see armed assailants, drug crime and the "rampage" gunmen becoming more heavily armed, using armored vehicles and using body armor.

The Canadian "Swat Team" sniper will need more training and will need to become more flexible and adapt to the situation at hand as our society faces threats ranging from the corner store stickup to the well funded terrorist threat.

Police DO use .223 rem but not for their sniper guys. Their regular and ETF guys use them. The sniper guys use .308 they are there to drop a threat if needed not change his mind.

And the police to not use downloaded anything. They use factory ammo to avoid mistakes and cover there butts legally so's there is no law suits regarding non penetration or over penetration due to someones loads.

Ammo is tested and approved for their uses.

Some Police forces in the UK have been using .243 for quite a while now. Also, didn't I read something about the RCMP testing 22-250 for precision work?

I have read many times that the average police sniper shot is 70 yards which is basically across the street from cover. My not be true but I makes sense, anybody else heard this before?
