Sniper Challenge

So this is shaping up to happen in Alberta then eh? Can't say I've had much experience with long range shooting or hiding, but I spend a lot of time sneaking into carbine range of very very skittish deer, so I would probably have a chance :p

If something like this looks like materialising closer to vancouver I'm in!

It has been looked at a few times, the issue will always be cost.

It costs money to provide a safe, challenging and entertaining competition.
Looking at the stupidity I have seen on a square flat range the staffing would have to be huge, and very few shooters want to pay what it requires.

In my case I don't own any camo. So sneaking around in the bush has no appeal for me, persoanlly.

Trust me it is a highly overated experience.

Unknown number of targets at unknown distances, thats cool:cool:
Varied shooting positions, thats cool:cool:
Getting together with friends to shoot #### and then shoot the ####, really cool:cool:
Spending a day or 2 in wet clothes trying to make like a tree, not so cool:puke:

Good to see you come up for air once in a while. I thought we had lost you to the equine cult.:p

I blended the two into 3 gun tactical on horseback, I have an Awsome ghillie suite for my appaloosa and he can carry a sh$t load of mags, he stands pretty still until I pull the trigger :)

Still waiting for you to come up for the promised visit. It's a long overdue get together for all of us.

Ya Bud but think of all the fun we can have as you and I sit back and drink Rum knowing these guys are Haulin arse cross country cause they really think were going to waste the time and energy to chase them 15 clicks to the final waypoint. It will be funny as hell to kick back watching them come in wet exhausted and not a hope in he'll of hitting a 1 mile target, by the time they get in well be tanked and still outshoot them!! :)

So here's the deal. This is going to be the best we can make it . We have a team dedicated to make this a safe, challenging and cost effective event as possible. We potentially have an area that appeals to every type of shooter. The goal here is to challenge shooters in ways they might not be familiar. Have you shot 1000 yards ? How about 2000 yards ? Maybe 3000 yards. Things that pop out of the bush at 25, 50, or maybe 100 yards, over water, through bush, up and down hill. I'm not sure what we can do, but I know this, It's gona kick ass. I have shot with all the people involved so far and we want to walk away from this saying, Holy crap that was cool. Sharing that experience with others fuels the passion. What ever the cost, thats what it is.

Let's get some idea of the terrain with pics and location and go from there. Once I see the sight, I'll have more of an idea how we can set it up and make it work. As for safety, I think we can manage since it's not a spray and pray type event and with a range officer moving with the shooter/spotter team, that will defnitely help. I look forward to more on this.

As for Brian being on a horse, can you at least dress up like an indian? That will make it all worth it. LOL

the shoot

So far this is a small part of what Iv'e seen. I did't have the time to see more. This area will be secured for our event, there by limiting almost all off the risk. The next time I go down, I'll take better pics and explore more areas. The possibilities are endless here. I looked at a few square miles, there are 144 sq miles altogether and shots over two thousand meters are common.

Inter-provincial challenge?

As long as it was too rule heavy, (safety of course), it sounds like alot of fun.

I have always wanted to visit your neck of the woods, and this would be a great reason...
