Sniper Challenge

Looking good guys. Getting real excited. But from the sounds of it there won't be any crawling through the mud. Damn! I really needed an excuse to buy a ghillie suit. Just being "out there" with my rifle and fellow shooters is enough for me to have fun. Making some hits is just a bonus. I just spent the day coyote calling and didn't even see one let alone take a shot. Still had a great time though.

Oh and I finally finished a rifle build that would be perfect for this shoot. Here's hoping I get invited (even though I couldn't produce a helicopter) as it would be the perfect venue to break in the new rifle.

I have the perfect name for this event, Hollywood sniper challenge. Will Mark Wahlberg be attending. haha all joking aside this looks to be a pretty fun event for shooting enthusiasts or so called wannabe snipers/coolaid drinkers.

P.S. my favorite flavor is Grape hahaha

I'm getting alot of emails and some pm's asking about a creep incorporated into the event. I will talk to Jimbo and see if we can set up an optional event. 1 for those that want to do a stalking/creep event and an optional event with the same point value for those that don't. Post on here if you want a event to utilize your ghillie suits. We will see what we can come up with and if we can manage 2 events running at the same time.

If there are people interested in volunteering services to assist with judging, setup or hunting guys in Ghillie suits let me or Jimbo know. Be assured if you want a simulated mission you will get it, and it won't be for "Cool Aide Drinking Wanna Be's" expect a very early departure and a time sensitive objective, a good buddy of mine always says carefull what you wish for! Saskcanshooter will probably dominate this event with his many years of stalking gophers in the hostile pastures of Saskatchewan.

Show us there's enough interest and we will see what can be done. We do have plenty of real-estate to utilize.

lol thanks bud, but unfortunately it seems that i will be at a disadvantage growing up in the northern Saskatchewan bush out of those hostile pastures and in the easy going thick bush and bloodsucker infested swamps, damn my easy upbringin. But i digress, This now sounds like it shall be a true Sniper Challenge. I also look forward to meeting people in the community.

So what I'm getting here is that a ghillie is not needed? What time of the year approx will it be run? About how much ammo will be needed?

We are looking at Mid spring, round count will be determined by the final course of fire layout that we are still working out logistics on. That being said, expect around 60-80 rounds for primary sniper rifle and 100-150rds for spotter/support. Gotta give the spotter something to get excited about other than alot of math and work. :)

So are you expecting nr semi autos for the spotters or are bolt guns workable. Not eveyone has a nr semi.

Same as sniper, no restriction bring what you know. As I said before I know cowboys here that can run side by side with an old lever rifle and be competitive against any semi auto. To help you all out spotter engagements will be out to aproximately 300 meters and as close as in your face if your not paying attention.....depends on how close our target presenter Max can get in on you. :)

Again bring what you know, plan your kit load out, 1 rifle per competitor and expect to carry all you bring!! Anything left on the field during competition becomes a prize, weight affects time and mobility which affects score, even if there is no creep in this event expect to engage targets on the move and through bush. Bring lots of cool aide to hydrate! Keep moms phone number close all whining stops at the Alberta border.

Surely there are many M1A's out there. Sure seems like a lot of guys on this sight have one. If I didn't already have one I'd buy a Norinco just for this shoot. Should make a good spotter/support rifle I think. If I attend I will be bringing my Springfield for sure!

Keep in mind as it stands now you will enter the event as a team, one as a designated spotter one as a designated sniper each with 1 non restricted fire arm they feel best suited to the task for the entire event. This doesn't mean that the sniper won't take a hit and spotter might have to take over, or maybe the spotter might hit a wire and get his balls fragged leaving the sniper to pick up the support rifle and carry on. Stuff Happens:evil:

I'm done dropping hints time for Jimbo to stir the Pot a bit!

I got a new job shooting the dicks off hummingbirds bingo. Turns out the little guys are mating way too much

I can vouch for that, Mutt used to display them on his livingroom wall like a trophy dear head until his wife asked how such a small animal can have a #### larger than a human. :p

Sorry bud, can't help myself sometimes.:D you can pay me back at the match.
