so 1911 bug has got me again.......

Just a few commanders

Para Elite Commander

STI Spartan IV with Bull Barrel

Colt 38super Talo, 9mm on roids also with a 9mm barrel

Overrated or not, i go thru wuite a few guns. Just so that i can try a few variety. I have gone thru glock and sig like i have with the 1911.

My first 1911 is a Commander. To me the Commander both looks and feels better balanced than a full sized 1911.

I find that it is a bit forward heavy with a regular 1911 and weapon light, I would assume it would be worst with a commander length.

Recoil management shouldnt be that much worse. Gotta rmb. They run an 18lb spring vs a 16lb in the govt

Yep. My Nighthawk runs perfectly with an 18.5 # spring. The commanders are somewhat more sensitive to timing and some people do have problems with ejection patterns until they hit on the right spring / ammo combination. Complaints of being hit by brass were fairly common when I was into threads covering this kind of issue. Job one for the spring is to get the gun back into battery effectively without bashing the frame around. People who like to mess with handloads sometimes buy sets of various spring weights to match selected power factors.

I don't really mean to revive an old thread, but today I ordered my Sig TacOps Carry with threaded barrel! Now the wait..........

Anyhow, grapevine is telling me that these things don't come with a full length guide rod :(, and I have been looking everywhere for a BLACK full length guide rod and the BLACK guide rod plug ( well technically is not a plug coz its open ended). So anyone of y'all know where I can find one? I tried Brownells, no joy there. Numrich may have it but with a $35 surcharge.....YIKES!

I wouldn't worry about it personally. I've got pistols with and without them, and I just don't see the point.

Yeah. My 2 other 1911, 1 has it and 1 doesnt. I cant feel the difference but its just one of those koolaid thing right....

i know that heavy ones are sold for plastic guns to give them a bit more weight. I doubt that's the reason on a 1911.

I've just learned to not jump on the aftermarket without a good reason. gives me more money for powder, ball, more pistols... ;)

Here it is boys. After a long long perios of indecision, jumping back and forth between the tac ops and the scorpion. I picked the tacops.

How do you like it? I'm trying to decide between the tac ops and the carry nightmare...I don't know what to do lol.
Where did you get it from?

So far just from handling it around in the house, feel is definitely different than all the other 1911 that i had. Even for a commander size, it feels like a full size in my hand ( for comparison p226 fits perfectly in my hand). It feels fairly heavy for an alloy gun, i could be wrong and its a steel frame.

I got this at frontier firearm. Top notch guy. Got a free holster and mag pouch from them. Altho they forgot to send me the mag pouch but they sent it out the following day in an express post. Good guys to deal with
