So, any CGN's up for a road trip?

I had a college student staying with me this past 2 months and he said that there were so many gophers a .22 LR was the only way to go, I would still take a high power 22 or even a .243 for some long distance shooting.
From what I heard, I never made it out that way during gopher season was it was the worst invasion ever and posters were put out at TNT gunworks and other shops begging hunters to blast them away :eek:
We did get abit more snow this year then last which may lower the numbers but us Saskatchewan guys always welcome other hunters, very hunter friendly province :)

Ok folks, so tell me now how many actually think they will make it and how many people will be coming in your group?

I could also use some contacts for Sask. Sporting goods shops and farm outlet stores would be a great help. I'm going to try and gain us access to enough land that were bound to run into big numbers of rats.
 
How about the weekend of June 7th and 8th?

I booked it off as well as Friday the 6th for travel time. I think this weekend is our best gamble. Early enough to still have rats above ground, late enough in the year to allow for comfortable nights in a tent and hopefully late enough to avoid the Spring rains. From Lethbridge to Swift Current is appox 4 hours. Rusty has a longer drive, say 12 ish per day. If we coordinate departure times, we should be able to meet around the same time. Captain2k and I will meet this week and hopefully iron more details. Perhaps we could spend Friday night in a motel and book all the rooms in advance. That way if we arrive in swift current 6 hours apart, we know where everyone is. The next night we could camp out in the field. But at least we won't be getting anyone lost enroute to whatever field we choose. As a bonus, if were all together, we could decide as a group where to go. Hows that sound?

So far I have Rusty as 2, C2K as 2 adults, I'm sure when Bullseye chimes in he'll be good for 2 and the wife and I. I'll say 2 for Whammy for now. That's 10. gyman98 sounds like he'll be there, but I'll put him down as 1 for now. 11 is where we stand right now. Sealhunter and SV7772 showed interest as well. Anyone else?

I can be off them days for sure...wifey I dunno about...if she can book them off or get the bank time she can probably go...I wont need any hotels if we are near swift....I got places to stay ;)

Still need to confirm location....
 
its not going to do any good for the coyote population either. I've heard that its a lot of paperwork to get a hold of the poison so that is a bonus for gopher shooters

The following weekend would be fine for me. :redface:
Don't change the time if the majority prefers June 7-8.
I'll go with my wife on the following weekend.
The idea of meeting at the motel is perfect.
