So..............did you get one?

Thats sophistry. Of course any metal would have to have been melted down at some point prior to the shop receiving the material but that is not the same thing as when parts are defined as "cast", "cast then milled" etc... When you pour a lead bullet into a mold, that is "cast". If you then take that casting and mill something out of it that is "cast then milled". There are other methods of creating raw blanks such as extrusions, forgings etc... Note the current hoopla south of the border of the "100% made in america" AKs with a bunch of cast parts where they arent supposed to be, such as bolts etc...

EDIT: Apparently there is info floating around the net that the receivers for vz58 since the 60s were investment cast then milled. It contradicts other info I heard, and am unsure if it is correct or even if it applies to our semi auto civilian receivers from either CZ or CSA. Not that its necessarily a bad thing anyway, if done properly.

You just essentially restated what I said, 223762 said they were cast and milled and someone called him wrong saying they were only milled, then I said he was right for the reason stated earlier, which is neither false or deceptive and as such also not sophistry. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

$kull provided the answer... "There are other methods of creating raw blanks" You seem to think casting is the only method because at the beginning the steel starts off molten.

h ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalworking look at bulk forming process.

Ask yourself why lathe beds are cast but I-beams used in building construction are not.

I have not read the whole thread. Im just wondering if any pinned drum mags are still available? Anyone with a pic of their 858 with the pinned drum mag?

Just received my rifle too (although the post office thinks it's still in transit).
Everything looks good and the supplied mags seem to fit without issue.
Mags look new but the bayonet looks to be a bit older stock.
Not sure if this is unusual but I also have a cleaning kit.
It looks like I have one of the round closed sights on mine.
Gun seems to be painted an ugly dark grey colour.
It looks so ugly that you've got to love it. :p

Impressed!

Just pick mine up from the post office! I'm super impressed, all my mags appear new and unused. Bayonet looks new as well, the sling however has been previously "loved". The rifle looks spectacular (on quick inspection, had to head off to work) the rifles sight is a Half circle (which I wanted!) the wood stock is a lovely light colour, much lighter than the photo. Not sure if I even want to put the folder stock on it now. If I could have looked through all 400 rifles I probably would have picked this one!

And best of all it looks like a tack driver :D

Wow, that does look like a shooter! Congrats!

It's gotta be that open front sight.

Mine was shot at 50m 4 inch group. I hope he was in a rush lol

Haha. Or too much coffee?

I didn't realize they had 50m and 100m targets. I thought mine was a 5-shot group at 100m. I just glanced at it and put it back in the box. Well the last couple posts got me thinking, so I checked it again.

I must have gotten the 858-shotgun variant by mistake, I have a 5 shot group at 50m. By the looks of everyone elses targets there should be 6 shots on paper, no?

so what's the deal can you not get more in? What caused the delay?
If I was selling anything and 400 units sold out in a few hours I would buy 4000 more.
