It was either a T shirt or a set of water wings for your wife but we were out of stock! enjoy. My shipping staff got a huge chuckle out of your canoe trip, and you still made a purchase, well done. :)

Mine was delivered Monday. I was out of town. Unpacked it yesterday and was very happy.
Mags, bayonet and sheath look brand new. Sling, cleaning kit and mag pouch not so much.
Gun is nice, just a couple dings on the lower handguard. Internals look new.
100m sight in target, must have been shot at in the dark!!
According to one of the Wolverine employees mine might have been the last sale that went through on the Sunday.
I have been wanting an 858 since i shot my one a buddy owns 4 or 5 years ago.

Is there a thread for 858 noobs? I've got some questions-

1. Does anyone actually use the oil/ grease that came with it?
2. Do we have to strip the packing oil like the sks prior to shooting?
3. How are the mags blocked at 5 rounds? That rivet on the back rib?
4. Is it normal for the top hand guard (that covers the gas piston) to be loose as hell?
5. What is the belt and barrel end cover for?

First impressions are that the coating looks like it was all applied with a mop in some spots, looks uniform and high-end in other spots. One of my mags looks used but the others don't have a mark on them. I don't mind the beaver barf furniture but I'm a big guy and will likely be looking for an adjustable butt stock. I hope the gun is more accurate than the test target indicates! I like the simplicity and robustness of the design, makes me confident the gun will function in a variety of conditions.

What is this gremlin everyone mentions?

I know I could read all about this stuff if I searched but I am drinking rum and looking over all my new stuff! Thanks in advance!

Great video. That finish is sick. I remember a friend of my brothers bought one of these in Canada retail $600. Makes me kinda sad but I got one now!

Oh, and that used mag I spoke about has the follower completely jammed. Bunch of scratches on the top part where it inserts into the mag well. Definitely something wrong there.

#4 is an easy fix, bend the tabs back more and throw the front part in a vice to close it up a bit more.

Upon closer inspection, there are 2 things going on here. The wood is rocking back and forth on top of the steel cover. The steel cover wiggles slightly when seated and secured on top of the piston. In watching the recently posted video, the front tabs at the barrel end are not snug at all wh n seating the cover. I'm nervous though to snug those and rub the finish off.

In my experience thats just the way they are, if you shoot corosive your going to need to clean it and by that your going to open and close that many times and the finish is going to comme off. If you shoot alot and fast in a outing your going to heat up the barrel and the finish might bubble up, were the gas port is on the barrel it might flake and were the front sling swivel makes contact same thing. Also the leather loop of my sling got so hot and dry cause of the hot gas it broke.

That was all many years ago. This batch might be diffrent. Never the lest, dont heat up your gun to much and take off your front swivel if this is your princess;)

I've seen someone trying to sell one on Facebook and he was asking around 1400. I told him dude, you're going to make 300$ of profit? Go work a week at McDonalds and keep your CZ if you need 300$ that bad.

Did I read somewhere on CGN that Wolverine had half a dozen for sale on their website AFTER the big sale or was it a dream?

Hey guys......this is my first 858......in a previous post someone mentioned to take it down and it even thoigh its brand new outta the box......what should I use and how through a cleaning should I do.......and why would I clean it for that matter......all my bnib pistols I buy go right to the range without a cleaning what gives? in my experience, they were only coated in oil. so realistically you should be able to just shoot it.

i dont have one from the newest batch though..

Snagged one off the EE yesterday from a GREAT gunnutter who passed his on for what he paid for it, and had it packed and shipped within an hour of EMT.

Can't wait for it to arrive so I can throw it back up on the EE for $1800! Muahahahaa
