too true...was loading up 3 rifles (into the car) the other day in front of the house and a lady walking a dog was giving me a funny look so I though "here we go"...she stopped and looked at me and said "Going for goose? Deer season doesn't open for a few weeks?"..I just smiled and said "off to the range for practice"..she smiled back and said "have a good day shooting"...shotzee said:nope, im from alberta!![]()
Vic777 said:I know what you mean but, what if the cops were there, what would that mean ... can anybody just "call the cops" and they will come and everybodys time gets wasted, or do the cops have some way of weeding out the nut calls? What if every time you went hunting, "the cops were at the truck"? Try not to be threating to these, "lefties", they probably use any excuse to "call the cops". Your use of the legal argument sounds like it worked.
Skippy said:Ontario is just lousy with anti-hunters. I've yet to meet one who'd actually consider our side of the argument regardless of what you bring up.
You handled it well by just humouring him until he left.
BIGREDD said:I would ask him to leave immediately or suffer the consequences.
If he continued to harrass me I would ask him if he was familiar with Part II section 13-A of the Fish and Game Act of Ontario that states that placing himself or herself in a position, for the purpose of interfering, that hinders or prevents hunting is illegal and he is breaking the law.
Then I would tell him that I am making a citizens arrest and that he must remain until the police and or game wardens arrive. I would use any reasonable force neccessary to keep that person from leaving until the authorities arrived!
The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, held that a citizen's arrest at common law allows for a use of "reasonable force". This includes reasonable force necessary to undertake the arrest and maintain it.
I'm serious.![]()
Depends where you are. Some years ago a friend and I were hunting groundhogs on his farm in southwestern Ontario and a woman from a nearby trailer park came to the fence and started yelling at us, threatening to call the police.44fordy said:Rural Ontario, is about as hunting as you can get. And I've lived here for 35 years.
44fordy said:WHERE are these "anti's" you speak of??? I can't seem to find any..and honestly...I've looked!! I work in a Fed Public Service Headquarters...for 8 years....and I can't find ANY!!
I can't speak for Toronto (downtown), but I know there's alot of hunters from there. I meet them every year moose hunting.
Rural Ontario, is about as hunting as you can get. And I've lived here for 35 years.
So, if you want to base your assumptions on anti-hunting crap, then go talk to the source. (PETA, Jack Layton) You're going to get anti's in BIG populations. Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver. You don't get anti's living in f*ing Robuck!!
Sorry, but all this anti-Ontario propaghanda BS, from whatever sources you guys retrieve it from gets really tiresome after a while.
