So how long have you waited for Vortex warranty?

Exactly!

I want to pay for a quality optic, not a warranty. Could you imagine being on a Yukon hunt of a lifetime that you paid thousand of dollars for and your scope craps out on you half way though day 2. I wouldn't buy a Vortex to shoot gophers!

That is precisely my point about warranties. They're great but they don't help in the middle of a hunt or competition.

I had a viper pst in the past... Had to replace it twice! Reticle was rotating and the zoom ring came loose. Got a brand new one and sold it. About a 3 months process total... Yes great warranty but how useful is a rifle without a scope?

I will not buy Vortex scopes till they manage to have better quality control.

I might be unlucky but this is the way it is with Vortex for me so far. Never had this kind of problems with any other brands.

On a hunt like this, I bring two good shooters.
I don't think I own junk in rifles............
Set up at least two and bring two for over night hunts.
Or have open sights as a back up.

Are you willing to pack two rifles with you all day? And what good is a second rifle if it sports the same junk glass?

I buy Leupold and Zeiss and I still worry I might get a dud. I wouldn't take any scope on an expensive hunt unless it has been tested in the field for at least a hunting season.
