So I cleaned my 10-22 today...

You guys are crazy! Some of my target .22's don't even start shooting worth a damn until 500-1000 rounds are down the barrel.

I pretty much never clean my .22s barrels, actions and exteriors are clean and lubed.

Exactly. I clean when I sell one or buy a brand new one. Other then that I can't remember when I cleaned one last

I detail stripped my 10/22 for the first time since I bought it back in 07' recently. I could remove the CLUMPS of carbon by hand. I didn't even clean it because it was giving me trouble, I just felt bad for it. haha

I never clean my 10/22. I wont have time when the zombies come so i have to make sure it functions dirty.

I have one of the first stainless 10/22's that came available...remember the canoe-paddle stocks? It must be what...25 years ago I bought that? Anyway: it's seen a lot of hard use and has never been cleaned...ever. Still works just fine. It's probably my least favorite semi ever, but I'll give it props for being tough.

IF I fire only 10 rds down the barrel of the 10/22, she gets cleaned!!!! I'm a nut!!!

Yes. Yes, you are.

Unless they've been used in the rain or snow, I clean my 22's when they seem to need it (indicated by impaired function), which is virtually never. I'm talking about receivers, extractors, triggers, bolts, etc. I also clean the barrels when they seem to need it, as indicated by a reduction in accuracy. With the exception of guns used with some cheapo Russian ammo, this is quite literally NEVER.

Yeah mines 1995. Barrels 1980s

I mostly just do a pull thru, tooth brush to clean the bolt face and extractor and call it done. Only thing not stainless is my barrel so. Might wipe it down.

Is this the FREE COOKIES thread everyone is talking about?
Or is this the one about "I cleaned my gun today"......where is my free cookie.
Speaking of free cookies.........please clean your gun...I mean teeth after eating cookies.

My comment on cleaning a 10/22: You need 3 hands and a full-blown epileptic seizure in order to put the bolt back in.. During one of the whacks to get it back out so I could pull the charging handle back again I ended up badly bruising my hand today. I HATE cleaning this gun

The 10/22 is easy as pie to take apart and put back together, wait till' you clean a Mark pistol if you havn't already.
Those, I refuse to clean.

Clean the barrel with copper "washed" rounds? I've tried it with jacketed rounds in other calibers too try and clean a leaded barrel. While it looked clean , all I had done was lapped a layer of lead under some copper fouling. But that with an actual jacket. Wouldn't think a copper wash would have the same effect as a copper jackets seeing how soft it is.

They are copper "wash" bullets. Must be his reasoning LOL

Everything is easy except for the friggin' bolt (at least on mine).. I'm no gun newb. I can do a detail strip of an SKS and put it back together in under a minute. I can do the same field-stripping an AR and even less time with the Shadow. I've drilled/tapped/milled receivers, did a lot of tinkering on the AR, done a couple of trigger jobs (including a top-notch one on the 10/22).. Well, yesterday I achieved my personal best time in putting the 10/22 back together and it was 45min. Most of it was cussing/swearing/praying for the bolt to finally drop in, while holding the charging handle down and emulating a bout of epilepsy. If the Mark pistol's even worse, whoever designed it can go shove it where the Sun don't shine; I'm not touching that with a 10' pole
