I, also, refuse to do business with Lever Arms due to the reception I received this past spring. Due to an accident in late 2011, I am now in a wheelchair and am a quadreplegic. During my rehab in Vancouver, I went into their store to make a purchase and to inquire about possible shooting aids. I was met with rudeness and unprofessionalism. They gave me a short, rude answer and basically turned their backs on me. Needless to say, I DID NOT make the intended purchase! Oh well, their loss! I was going to drop at least a grand in their store, but in the words of Poe... nevermore, nevermore! ;)

p.s.
If anyone knows anything about bite triggers or any other adaptive triggers, I would love to hear from you. My girlfriend loves her guns and I need to figure out a way to keep up with her! Can't be letting her have all the fun. :)

I can't afford the prices in the back of the Georgia Straight, but Levers Arms is a reasonably priced alternative. I bought my last SKS there, and I'm not ashamed to admit I enjoyed the experience. I did go to a Catholic School in Ireland, not that there's anything wrong with that.

sorry about your experience...can't say I'm surprised.

give Westrifle a call, I'm sure they'll help you out...not sure about the bite trigger, but they'll find you a nice rifle !

Any one know were I can get a black bayonet?
Also what is wrong with the black bolt sks?

Just means they referbished the bolt and bayonet ie they blued them you can do it your self with your own firearm if you want who cares they're cheap enough...

Ok, now this has me wondering, we're currently placing an order for the crate of 10 sks's, The 'Investor pack'.
It's a group buy, a bunch of friends splitting the crate.
Has anyone placed an order for a crate of sks's from Lever before?
If so, what are your impressions? where you happy with the rifles, they're condition? Where there black bolt rifles in the mix?
Lever, so far has been really vague regarding information, via email.
It doesn't sound like they are willing to disclose information about 'Black Bolts and bayonets' being mixed in the crate, I can't figure out why. Anyway..
I understand these rifles are dirt cheap to begin with and arsenal refurbished condition, but a little more insight would make it easier to drop $1500+ on rifles that are on the other side of the country. And when ordering for a group of friends, it would be nice to receive a crate of decent rifles. Last thing we want is a crate of beat up black bolt rifles.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Yup, can have one painted up with krylon (black) or any other color you choose.
Hell, I can even have it painted International Orange if you like.
Obviously Lever Arms has enough customers daily that they can keep their doors open and employ a number of staff.
I used to enjoy heading down there on a sunny weekday on my bicycle before hitting the beach , made for a nice rest stop and handle a few guns before carrying on to Stanley Park or West Van.
What was this thread about anyways?
Rob

I'm just wondering what is the fuss about the black bolts? Are you buying the rifles to look at or to shoot?
Also Lever's was kind enough to sell me their worst looking dog of a Sks which they didn't want to sell, as a project gun, (i like project guns) .I've always had good experience's at Levers.

Nothing wrong functionally with the black bolt, the plain steel looks better, IMO. I'm picking 2 out of the crate, one to shoot as is, the other as a project gun.
If we go through with this crate purchase, we would like to know, roughly, what we're getting. Sounds like a tall order, from what I'm learning here.. sheesh!

Is this comment from experience? Is Lever that shi**ty to deal with?
How bad can a crate of arsenal refurbished sks's be? Or is more about dealing with Lever?

Oh thanks. I was scared cause I just baught one from there. The guy seemed nice to me. I asked him for the black one cause I liked how it looked in the display case. He wrapped it up in the box nice and put all the extras in a brown bag. First time at this store so I was scared by all the responses in this thread but I guess when I get out into the woods this weekend I hope it will be fine.
Besides cleaning the brown goo off any one know if I should use oil or grease on it and were can I find more info on how to take it apart?

Wow really ?? Where is all the lever bashers, It has to be the WORST ever gun store, junk junk and more junk. no warranty no service rude and if you go there its like your wasting there time.... will never go there again had nothing but bad dealings and big fights with current owners.. DO NOT GO THERE!!!... any place is better than there

Check out weimajack on EE just bought a 53 tula unfired, no refurb, the rifleing in the bore was amazing shoots like dream. He has refurbs and rare letter series ones too, plus like new ones. Imo he has the best SKS's.

Im sorry you went there i hope your rifle functions well , a much better choice would have been one of CGN members called Reliable Gun for future reference.
As far as cleaning lots of youtube video's on how to take apart and clean. pay attention to the safety position when dropping the trigger to remover the stock. should be a sticky for the sks if somebody could post it?
