So my SA20 came today...

Honestly? Unacceptable. Even the Chinese rifles come stored in preservatives and a heavy duty plastic bag inside a lined box, preventing shifting during transit.

And you just payed $2 grand more for a rifle you expect to be, not only pristine condition, but treated as a quality rifle: and your rifle's condition failed the test. I am not saying that they have to be shipped Rock Island Auction-style, but I can't believe that there was no effort to even arrest the rifle's movements inside the box.

I don't know about you, but even a simple sks or mosin has a cut out to the lock the stock and barrel from punching through.

I have no idea how that left the store shipped like that. Especially how much you paid for it, don't accept that it's a "meant to be dinged up" (only one poster so far) it's your gun to bang up, not for someone else to ship like that so it's damaged before you even get it.

It doesn't matter if the rifle can take it or not! That is not professional and I have had 200 dollar sks's shipped with more care then that. Plus its a security risk that front site sticking out! it could of gotten the package stolen. Not cool.

I'd be ticked if parts of my new gun were poking out of the box when the parcel arrived. I am not a professional shipper, but I take the extra minute or two to make my parcels "postie proof". Bubble wrapping the items, and stuffing whatever airspace is left with foam peanuts goes a long way and costs pennies extra. The last pistol I shipped out you could have kicked the box "Ace Ventura " style, and the product inside would not have been damaged.

Hopefully the dealer comes through and corrects the issue.

Cheers

M

No excuses for sure but to the OP I've bought dozens of things from Dan & Gary and whenever there was a problem of any kind they made it right immediately. I'm sure they will take care of this ASAP too!

Take it out to the range shoot it, it is a service rifle the Canadian Forces have been dragging all over the middle east. You bought it because they have a good reputation of a tough and soild rifle. if you use it like it meant to be used, soon enough a bit of blemish will be the least problem you have to worry about, just call it " being man handled" ;)

i see some sarcasm there. it would be like buying a brand new jeep rubicon and it being scratched up because it was already crashed throught he bush a few times LoL

If those marks wont rub off it should go back, I've received firearms shipped through our mail system, if packaged properly there's no problem. From the photos, unless we're not seeing something, packing seems "cheesy".

My sa 15.7 came murdered in plastic wrap and bubbles. There's no way that could have happened if it was packaged properly.

I would be pissed if someone packed an $1800 rifle like that for me.. Unacceptable. Can't blame Canada post. No soft packaging, no bubble wrap?

These threads always bother me - I only came here because of the title, and found that it's yet another unhappy customer acting on his impulse to share his grief with the world, even before the vendor has had a chance to respond. He tries to keep the name under wrap, but of course all of the "CGN High School Girls" say "tell me more tell me more". The vendor is then outed and the Crowd Bullying begins - "Boycott them!".

Would it not be better to at least await a response? Brain farts happen, and most vendors will make it right. That's a much better gauge of a vendor than the mistake they made.

Shipping an item like that is not just a brain fart, its negligence.
I'm sick of th site sponsors can do no wrong mentality and the need to protect them at all costs.
As a customer I want to know of this kind of stuff, and in particular what they do to fix it.

+1.

Sure looks like negligence. Weather you buy a $200 or a $2k rifle it should arrive to your door in the condition described when purchased. If it was a floor demo model it's probably the last unit they had in stock. They should offer some $$$ in compensation for the poor packaging and condition it arrived or if you're not satisfied with that deal, take it back and give you a full refund.
