If its on crown land, someone will find it. I found tons while scouting last year, everytime I found an area with really heavy sign, I'd look for a good tree for a stand, and more often than not, there was one there. People follow trails, even if they're faint.

That won't do shzt. They'll just end up with a free battery too. Not enough volts in a car battery to even give a tingle unless everything is soaking wet. Taser on the other hand....
You have got to be kidding, car batterys have a awful lot of juice think amperage not volts.
I have personally seen the effects of accidently touching the 2 poles with a wrench the burning scent of flesh and seeing the name westward branded into the guys hand for a month till it healed is enough to let me know that you don't have much experiance with this stuff.
That current will not go through you though. Why did your friend get burned? That's because a wrench conducts electricity.
E = IR. R for a person is quite high, around 10 kilo-ohms wet. E (11.5V) / R (10k-ohm) gives a maximum current of around 1.15mA. You won't even feel anything less than about 5mA. You'd need about 50mA to do any damage at all.
For a wrench, you can totally get enough juice through it to get the wrench hot enough to burn you. After all, you can weld with a car battery, so if it has the capacity to keep the current up long enough to heat the wrench...
For someone wearing shoes, they'd never notice, so yes - all you'd be doing is donating a car battery.
Yea, it probably was stupid of me to leave my stuff out there... But still.... I've been out and seen peoples bear stands/bait set ups, traps, all kinds of stuff... Why would I want to go mess with it, much less steal it? I would like to go put one up in the same area, with a camera on it, but how can I guarantee they won't find my camera and steal that too?

As noted, go with a climber or a tree saddle. I prefer the tree saddle if I am out by myself as it gives me lots of flexiblity and ability to move. Tree saddle also makes a dandy bandoleer to keep all your pegs in for climbing. If you organize yourself right, you can climb up, hook up and draw up your gear/rifle/bow in minutes. Worth the effort particularly if you have an area that does not have straight clean tree suitable to use with a climbing tree stand....
Once you try a climber...you will never go back to a hang-on.
No evidence left behind...no one will ever know you were there.
Portable...20'ish pounds, infinitely adjustable-height/location.
Will NOT get stolen.

Summit Treestands make some nice models. You just need to make sure that you can find the right type of tree suitable for climbing.

Forget chaining them .I had some dumb bastard use a chainsaw to cut down two 60 ft poplars to steal the stands in them one spring hunting bears. No pegs as I was using lineman spurs............Harold ... tree cams go missing all the time.....I'm thinking claymores would cure that! Harold

Why on earth would one hunter take away (steal) from another, it just don't make sense...
I am going to presume it's another hunter, and not some kids randomly running around the woods looking for this stuff.

If you can't afford your own equipment, your in the wrong activity, go take up skipping rope or some silly other activity that don't cost you hardly anything
