so I may have had one of my range toy/ hunting rifles banned...

so full #### it.. im going SKS tactical this summer

One SKS: check
One elcan ODS4: check
One point sling:check

Think your going to give the trugold scope on top of the mount ad a inferiority complex knowing it will be replaced with an Elcan.

I bubba'd one of my SKS-es and tried to do all sorts of different 'mods' to it.. finally I concluded that 'the rifle is fine'. It actually shoots the best in its original configuration. The only potential modifications I would do now is to replace ramp sight with raveneye peephole and if someone needs optics - get a professionally installed PU side mount, like a Mosin PU. 4x PU is plenty enough for it's accuracy.

bingo... I find a bedded wood stock beat the crud out of the polymer stocks

that scope mount is an easy tap and drill with template. I love the stability and versatility of the Magwede rail, but i hate that you lose the iron site and breaking down the rifle is a bit more pain full

Removable mags using a push forward release and without the duck bills for the win.

ITs funny, i keep buying OS4 elcans (I have a few now, bought for $1100 before the price hike this year) because nobody makes a good 3-4 power short base prism scope anymore. Even leupold discontinued their 3x fixed power site.... so its either NCstar, Monstrum... or elcan for the short base low mount prism scopes. Yes i know burris and vortex makes a couple but they are much taller and like 2-3 inches longer and block things like the ability to use striper clips lol.

Short CrazyIvan rail is good too - you can still use clips and it does hold zero. I had a long one installed and that one had a little bit of play vertically, just because it's too long. So a short one and a 3x-4x compact scope should work.

Why can’t we be more like the 1st nations. I respect them because they stick together and fight for what they believe in. If FN is the reason they haven’t banned SKS’s then we owe them big time and can’t possibly thank them enough.

yup i ordered the short rail i checked eye relief with placement before ordering it. it should just allow stripper clips and be set perfectly for eye relief on the rail
 
Rifle is fine as is.... then proceeds to recommend rubber recoil pad to extend LOP, beds wood stock, performs trigger job, adds peep sight to reduce eye strain... I love these kinds of posts.

People love customizing things.. :) It's just very hard to find those modifications that are actually making things better.. I'll be keeping my Yugo untouched though. The rifle is fine this time :)

Short-term, we are safe for now.. they will be digesting whatever prey they got this time. And long-term, if we don't remove Libs from power, they will take all the guns anyways and our firearms culture will cease to exist. So it doesn't matter that much..
