SO they banned your ###X 7.62x39 rifle... so screw it lets go full tactical SKS

But seriously, SKS is a product of its time. And yes, it can be somewhat improved. As long as the improvements are not confused with tacticooling / bubbaization.

Of course they didn't. They even managed to construct ICBMs out of plywood! Russian birch ply, of course...

Why this?

Advanced polymers were not used in firearms , aside from grips until Remington brought out their Nylon 22lr. in the late 50's early 60's. There may have been others of no significance. To this day Russia is not known to produce much of anything of significance with a economy smaller than Italy's.

Neither did the rest of the world... they all started out using bakelite and resin mixes. Altho 9mmGunGuy has a valid point! The whole "nyet rifle is fine" ideology is totally subjective. Obviously the Soviets thought their rifles were not fine! And over the following decades they " bubba'ed the designs to have more aggressive muzzle brakes, plastic furniture, rails for attachments and even optic mounts similar to the one pictured in the Nyet rifle is fine pic lol

Nyet rifle is fine = yah.... if u want to be stuck in the 50s lol

The gun functions well enough for what it was designed to do. It is sold to the west for hard currency. Aside from gas sales to Europe Russia has little else to sell to us. Mine arrives today. I'll see if it shoots any better than my Chinese SKS that o have to a friend.

I agree. Except that Russians did not "bubba'ed the designs" but improved it. Unfortunately, the "Nyet" poster-type purists tend to apply the term "bubba" to anything deviating from the original iterations circa 1947-1957. I tend to apply the term "bubba" to various pseudo-improvements such as Tapco mags, accessory rails, laser lights, tripods, etc. On the other hand, a quality plastic stock ( that retains the cleaning rod and the cleaning kit) is an improvement, and not a bubba. Imho.

The best thing I did for my shooter grade SKS was the bolt mod, detachable mags and replace the rear sight with a rail and a red dot. Functional, reliable and fun.

Funny (Funnily?) enough, our government has now pushed us back to pre-1950's Russia as well. Nothing modern for us Canadians.. Nyet Comrade!

We still have modern platforms like the M10x and possibly the new 7.62 180 MCR.... And even then, its been proven over and over again that the modifications and accessories for a firearm are just as important as its core design.

A 2000s AK-12 is basically just a bubba'd 1970s AK74

A bubba'd 1950s VZ58 will easily out shoot most newer 7.62x39 rifles

A bubba'd 1950s SKS could out shoot a lot of modern 7.62x39 rifles as well

Basically every modern AR in existence is just a 1970s gun that has been "bubbafied"

Like really, they are all old dependable actions that have just had better and better stuff added to them.

Sigh..... Amazon....

I couldn't find a rail at a Canadian source

I talked to Carl like crazy Ivan and he actually mailed me up a blemished long rail from us and yeah there's none in Canada anywhere he gave me a good price on it to half off lol, he said he didn't like the looks of the first gen magwedge on my SKS

SKS is cheap cheap cheap and there are millions in circulation.

They make that gun prohibited, it'll be worth MORE money considerably.

When you control the digital printing press, the volume of money becomes a mere statistic.

The Govt. can fund the buy-back without breaking a sweat, no matter what price is placed on any particular firearm.

The $$$ won't be worth anything though or buy anything of value.
