Get some Kids puddy, piece of steel, bedding compoud ( Acraglas Gel), sand paper, Krylon plastic paint and the stock will be better than new.... don't lose your sling stud.

X2, and I would fill in any recesses in the forend to stiffen it right up.

Was it you that was saying they wont make McM's for Model 85's anymore? I need to call and find out.

They might still do it, if you say please. The tricky part is the recoil lug on the laminate stock is screwed on, and won't fit in a synthetic stock...

Before all the sako bashers get on here, I will say outright, that it is not cheap plastic but a space age polymer, that can withstand the weight of a 3 ton military truck on top of it. The extra cost of a sako guarantees a product that can stand up to abuse that would leave plastic stocks busted. Mounting a bipod on a rifle is a true test of the rifles' mettle, if it can stand a bipod, it can stand up to any abuse you can dish out.

Space age wood probably wouldn't have broke like that, and would have looked better while not breaking.

i had a tikka t3 stock that did the same thing .

It happens once it is a fluke. When it happens twice there is a good chance of design problems.

It is disturbing to hear this as I invested in a few Tikkas.

On the other hand I never use a bi-pod.

Lord, I need to turn off the computer when I'm this tired. What I just read was

'get some kid's puppy, piece of steel......', etc etc. I was imagining some cute little lab or cocker being sacrificed and stuffed into the forened?????

So I was out shooting my .308 this morning and this happened:

Apparently the Sako A7 stock isn't meant for a bipod. The rifle still shoots great. Now the tricky wicket is finding a new stock for it.

Bell & Carlson is supposed to be making a composite stock for a new model of the A7, but they appear to not be selling just the stock yet.

Just out of curiosity... did it break while you were walking, or while it was shooting?? I really find it hard to believe that anyone could tighten a bipod enough with there fingers to pull it out the stud... even if it is plastic.
