Some of this weigh data given in above posts would actually include having the rifle rigged for hunting?

Sights, bases, rings and scopes. Mags or mag well fully charged with chambered load, scope protection pieces and a sling? Possibly with spare "bullits" on sling or rifle?

I have a Sako 75 in .260, 21" #1 Shilen, McMillan Edge stock, aluminum bottom metal and mag, Leupold ringmounts, and 2.5-8 CDS with Aluminas, 7 lbs 2oz.

Kimber Montana 84M 6.5 CM Leupold 2.5-8x36 in Talley lightweight mounts with butler creek scope caps 5.95 pounds
Kimber Montana 84L 30-06 Leupold 3.5-10x40 in Talley lightweight mounts with butler creek scope caps 6.29 pounds
Kimber Montana 84L 30-06 Bushnell LRHS 3-12x44 warne weaver base and ATRS 30mm low rings with with butler creek scope caps 7.30 pounds

I recall the Remington 700 ti being 5 lbs 4 oz in a short action bare...I could be mistaken though.

I completely dropped the ball years ago when there was a used Ti in 270 on the rack at Chilcotin guns. As I recall it was way under a thousand bucks. That was really stupid.

I think my Mountain SS in 06 and a VX3i 2.5-10 and Talley Lows just around this weight. Have been considering a Wildcat Composite Stock, which should drop it to mid 6lbs or so.

For reference is a Remington 700 Mountain with VX-II 3-9
