So... when is the M305 and .308 combo deal coming?

Let's be honest, the m305 is one of the few guns that is underpriced. 799 might be pushing it, but at say 599 or maybe even 699, what other option do people have in a reliable non-restricted semi 308? The right price is the one that keeps them moving off the shelves and I think after an initial few months of people realizing you can't get them for 450 anymore they will start moving again. The funniest part will be the day they go for 699 in a store and the ee shows up with a bunch of heavily used m305's for 680...you save the tax!!!

Let's be honest, their low price is why people buy them over another rifle that uses less expensive ammo.

Point is, many (poorer) individuals compromise on buying a rifle that uses more expensive ammo based on the fact that said rifle is cheaper. Anyone can get an M305 at the price it is right now; that is one of its great advantages.

At say double the price, there's the CSA/CZ, Keltec, even the Mini-14, along with some others. Not to mention the many AR's in the price range.

I just don't think those are the same things. Mini 14 maybe if you could get one in that range (I don't think at 699 you're going to find one), and even so, I think half the appeal of the m305 is that it is a nonrestricted 308. AR's definitely not comparable, and I don't think people are choosing between m14 and the cz, they are just so radically different in terms of purpose. Anyhow, time will tell, but I would predict the market for an accurate reliable semi 308 (no one is going hunting with their pistol caliber rifles and definitely nothing restricted) can handle a higher price. I prefer lower prices, I'm just saying I don't think they will have a problem moving them. Granted, if all you are doing is going to the range and putting a hole in a piece of paper at 100 meters there will be cheaper ways to do it, but I'll bet you an m305 they sell :)

yeah...I've wanted an m305, but at $800+ I will admit they have dropped on my priority list.

Given this news, I expect a pretty big rush on anyone that still has them in stock.

EDIT: I should qualify that by saying given the quality that people have reported seeing. If there was a good increase in fit, finish, out of the box accuracy, etc... then suddenly that cash feels like it's going a lot farther. I meant more that spending $800 on something I then have to tune, fix, tune more, (which all costs more $) is not especially appealing. ~ $400 for a project = ok, but at $800+ I expect something to work right the first time around.

I guess Norinco is running out of M14 receiver forgings that was destined for the US market back in the 80's
Many of the chinese factories are rasing prices. It is not so cheap to make stuff in China any more. Most of the factories pay and average of $6 per hour, compared to pennies a few years ago.

I have noticed a lot more the past few years that cheap stuff isn't always "made in china" any more, a lot of it is now bangladesh, or pakistan, etc.

rent, Cost of labour and utilities has been steadily going up in China.

In a few more years producing in China will become expensive but never as expensive as Canada. I have noticed that prices have doubled in the last 2 years on many products that we import regularly.

I figured out if the quality stay the same and the price drasticly raise, it could be the end of the Eldorado for that model but better quality could justify a big raise in pricing...
It's always a matter of balance... JP.

Prices aren't rising - the Chinese Currency is rapidly appreciating in value against the USD. http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=CNY&to=USD&view=10Y

The Yuan is trading at 20 year highs against the USD, and our currency is mostly backed by the USD. This means anyone holding large reserves of Yuan (the Chinese, Russians, Indians, Iranians, and me) will see significant increases in the purchasing power of their Yuan holdings while USD backed currencies (like the Canadian dollar) will see rapid loss of purchasing power.

The honeymoon days of cheap Chinese goods is going to come to an end within the next decade. Better pick up all the cheap Norinco's while you have a chance. I've said before, I think Norinco guns and ammo will one day be priced at equivalent levels to Western produced ones.

Are there any good gun manufacturers in those other regions and are you looking to expand your import business to some of them?
