So who's taking out the old Enfield for the up coming season

My buddy's 14 yr old son will be using my ol' #4 this year. I shot my first 4 or 5 deer with it and hopefully he'll get his first. By the way , .303 is still very popular caliber with the locals in South Africa.

Nothing wrong with an old Enfield. I would hunt just about any game available to me within reasonable distance with one. I still have one but its wearing a 45-70 barrel now.

I chopped a Savage 2 groove No4Mk1 down to 19 inch's and moved the sling opposite the bolt when I was 19.
I'm 45 now and still use it for the really bad area's.

I have one P14 in 303 Epps, and a #1 Ruger in 303 British.
Both these rifles are effective game-getters, and I would not feel a bit challenged to hunt deer, moose or elk with either of them.
The Epps will drive the 180 Sierra to 2700+ fps, and shoot 1¼ moa all day long
My number 1 Ruger is right with the 308 Winchester, velocity wise, and is sub-moa with at least 3 loads I have tried.
'nuff said!! Eagleye.
