So, why no chatter about Russellmania?

Re drop turners: it's all relative to others in your division. I've seen those in 3 matches now - in the first one, I tried shooting at them, and picking up I think 4 points for about 2.5s work of waiting and effort - did not come at the top of the stage. So, in the next 2 matches, I ignored the drop turners, and won the stages. It's a close call, but everyone needs to do what they think will give them the best advantage, against their competition. I doubt very much I would get 4 As, and then there is the extra time of swinging back and forth, expecially trying to go back to a plate - just not worth it, for me. Shot the two plates and started running, the stationary target on the go on the other side of the fault line, and that was it... ;) It worked best for me. YMMV.

The first few (I think I shot the same matches) were activated by poppers...probably a good idae to leave them as poppers usually fall quite slow...

The ones at RM were activated by Plates...which fall alot faster and activate almost immediatly...I'd say in this case it would have been better to shoot the drop turners...

Yes you did win the stage...but if Dan had run straight through instead of going left of the barricade...he probably would have taken the stage (and your supposed to be faster than us anyway :p )

I took both of the turners, AC, AA, and you still took me, 5.4268 to 5.3843, so I guess I can't argue with that.

I really had a hard time deciding whether or not to shoot at the slider, personally.

Thank you for airing my dirty laundry on gunnutz :)

Yes, I am a moron.

I think a few of us should get together and do something about Dan's legs. That way the long legged freak will no longer travel the full length of the range in 5 strides.

I think we should change your name to "Strider"

Hehehe, let's not go into the whole magical world of "what-if-I-only-hadn't-...", bad things lie in wait for those who enter there... ;) Unless we can drive back and re-shoot the whole match, we only have what we have, right :D ? Personally, given the handful of ####ups, I'm fairly happy with the result. Would it have been nice to get that president's medal? Of course, but at that level of match, you have to be at your best to get it. I wasn't, pure and simple, and Dan was - good for him!! Hypothetical ability and performance in practices means nothing unless you can make it happen in a big match... If I allow myself to think "well, if you take away two Mikes and replace them with Ds, I would have won" then what's to stop someone else from going "well, had I done X instead of Y, I would have done even better," and that's a bottomless pit... There's always the next match, haha - that's the only gauge of performance and ability!

I know what you mean, I had no choice - had a gun problem earlier in that stage which cost me 2-3seconds of dead time, so I knew I couldn't win on time, had to try and get points - so I had to shoot at the mover, even through I would have preferred not to. Still, that's the stage where I got 2 misses, so turned out it was all down the toilet anyway, hehe.

I'm sure we'll see that mover there again, Labour Day, haha!

oh...and since Dan is being so bashfull...congrats on winning the Production Presidents Medal...

Absolutely, hehe

To be honest, I didn't know who he was, I wasn't familiar with that last name, so when I was looking at the posted scores, before I started shooting, and I saw a (to me) total unknown sitting at/near the top of all the stages, I was 100% certain it was ipsc1 who popped in for another surprise appearance at the EOHC, and was shooting under an alias to throw people off ;) ;)

Very well done indeed!

Naw...we tried to arrange that for you but Cliff is pretty busy these days figuring out how to get you going at the Nationals :p

Cheers, Quigley. I haven't got the vaguest idea how to respond to that sort of thing. I may never win another of those purple and gold things, so I better keep track of this one, hey?

You don't know it, Omen, but I've been running around, trying to shoot classifiers for the last year, largely hoping you'd be around.... not that I was chasing you personally, you're just the only GM whose name I knew, until K.H. made GM. :) I went to sin city, not enough people, Barrie, only one GM and no M. We got caught in bad weather and had to turn back before the triangle. EESA 3 gun, no m's or gm's. The RA center LII in january, I was in Italy. One thing after another, all the while, training about weekly with SR.

So, the only other classifier I've ever shot was Russellmania II, last year. My 2nd match ever. Been draggin' that damned C classification for a while.

I wasn't trying to sandbag.... :)

For the record, I came out on top of a lot of shooters that are far better than I am. Conditions were putrid. Everybody died on at least one stage (mine was stage 4. Two mikes, and 4 shots to hit the popper. Aaargh.)

I got real lucky.

My actual abilities will be plainer over the next matches, when you guys whip my ass, and call me Martha.

Omen, I didn't come over and say hi, because I didn't want to seem like an ass, or seem like I was trying to be a jerk. I'll buy you a beer, next match.

Dude, kick my ass at Peterborough on the 10th, OK?

Funny story: I am now a B shooter. A buddy of mine shot that match in production as his first classifier, and is now... an A shooter. I think we should get rid of that "classification from first match" thing.

Anyhow, I expect I'll make master this summer. Cool!

If you are coming to Peterborough, I'll kick your ass, well maybe not in the match, but I will have my rubber boots on. ;) Looking forward to shooting against you BDan> You shot a great match on the weekend and nobody can take that one away from you. You performed very well.

Phil

Well, my first level 3 in quite a while after getting back into shooting, but it was a fantastic match, kudo's to Steve and May and everyone involved.

I shot with some good guys from Peterborough on Saturday, including one with a tricked out open Glock 24! They were very kind to not laugh too hard after my face plant on stage 5!

I for one really liked the fact that the match did not follow the 3-2-1 format. Made for a great match to have fun at, with challenging stages that really made you think. I would really, really have loved to have shot that match on a dry day.

And congrats to Bartledan on the win in production!

I know the problem, I had the same issue with Nick M. Then it was the two of us, but he dropped off the face of the Earth, so it was back to having only 1 GM. But that's all in the past, we have lots of GMs, two current Ms, pretty much every level 2 within driving distance of the GTA should be a classifier. EOHC might be a problem, since Quigley will be shooting Open now, and none of the GMs are based there (I probably won't be coming up, there are matches much closer usually the same weekend).

Come down to Grenville; with Tan Loc driving down from Quebec, there is usually some good competition there, and with enough people it should be a classifier. Every Waterloo match will be a classifier with Brent and me always there, plus Peterboro too, Kent goes there, and so do I. Don't know about Haliburon, we'll have to see who'll come. Including the provincials, we should have 4 classifiers in June ;)

>Omen, I didn't come over and say hi, because I didn't want to seem like an

Ohhh, don't be silly! I understand now you worked on the rifle range with DaveH, I might have seen you there, but I had no idea who you were (I mean, I still thought you were Cliff, haha), so couldn't say anything, plus I had my hands full looking about the new shooters on our squad (oohhhh, we were SOOO close to getting a Lady Prod president's medal awarded, for the first time in Canada).

>Dude, kick my ass at Peterborough on the 10th, OK?

Hey, everyone will do their best, and we'll see who'll screw up the least. I'll be shooting a new gun for the first time in a match (Tanfoglio L), so I'm not expecting miracles ;) But chances are some other M/GM people will be there, so you'll need to fight for it, hehe!

>Anyhow, I expect I'll make master this summer. Cool!

I'm sure that won't be a problem!

Thanks guys.

I'm signing up for every match within 4 hours fo driving of Ottawa, and as president (soon to be competition director) of EOHC, I'm going to try really hard to grow IPSC close to home.

Here is a question: What is the 3-2-1 format?

You know, I've been thinking about this, and I think the right way to shoot this was hit the activator, then reload (that's what I did, so far), call it 1.5 seconds. Then, take only the first 2 targets, A's and C's, while the slider is moving slow. (This is not what I did :))

The hits on the next two would likely be crappier, so the extra time doesn't make sense.

We should start thinking about how we are going to drag everyone down there....

We could meetup in Ottawa and Drive in my truck (room for 4) or meet up in Prescott and leave a few vehicles behind...

It's 4 so far...we may end up with more...
