I also see it as kinda the same reason lots of people bow hunt, use traditional muzzle loaders,spear fish/ hunt, use dog sleds etc etc. My grand father used to build great big wooden boats, heavy as hell and defiantly like not as nice as a new Lund or what have you but it he built it and fished the hell out of em and that's what it was all about for him. People are into doing things the old ways and honestly thank #### the world isn't full of people soo willing too toss away traditional methods of doing things. Like I said too, forgo the dvd kit and build his own. I agree that particular one seems a bit dainty picturing it full of meat and gear. How is an umiak less than "seaworthy"? Have you ever seen one?
