I may have to do this too because I shoot off a bench and that bipod is way too high for bench shooting.
I suspect it would also chew your bag up if that’s what your using for a rest and leave a bunch off plastic pellets leaking everywhere.

Then why not get an SKS ? I have doubts a type 81 LMG can do anything that an SKS can not...I was going to buy a type 81 LMG because they look cool, but I think a basic Chinese SKS is likely to be far better quality. I need to see a type 81 LMG in the flesh before I fully make up my mind.

Hey guys. How do Type 81 sights work? I see the numbers on opposite sides of the drum but does the number facing you as the gunner indicate the set range? Or is it the number on top?

I’ve got a “1” “3” “4” on the right side of the drum. I’ve got a “6” and a “7” on the left side?

It’s a head scratcher for me

Because of the condition set by the shipper (i.e. Tac Import) for the packages. At least those which include the guns themselves at least.
We are all only getting a notice delivered to our door, while the package will sit at the post office where you will have to pick it up in person. This is called Card of Pickup, and the CanPost website tells me the following;
Card for pickup
We’ll take the item directly to the post office for pickup. We’ll leave a delivery notice card at the recipient’s address that tells them to pick up the item at a designated post office. To pick it up, the recipient or a representative is required to show a valid piece of government-issued photo ID that shows the same address as the one on the item.

thanks for the explanation.

I already have a Russian 1st year production Izzy and a Chinese military D model then a factory 26 and my favourite and the one I shoot the most often Yugo M59/66. I think I’m good for SKS,s.
Also have fixed stock T81 and soon to have phosphate LMG.
Don’t worry Bubba won’t get his hands on any of my stuff but I may take the bipod off if it’s going to shred my rest.

On my standard T81, the '1' facing me while shooting is 100 yards (or meters, I suppose), '2' is 200, etc...

LOL it's your money man but why? You effectively turned your LMG into a standard Type 81. That's like replacing oem 20 inch wheels with 15 inchers.

Maybe he just wanted a standard Type 81 without a bipod, but with a heavier barrel and a longer sight radius? Or he didn't get the chance to buy a standard rifle when they were available and he's just making do?

The Chinese effectively turned a Type-81 into a LMG with a heavier barrel, different stock, and a bi-pod. It’s the same fricken gun!

Sone people replace 20s to 15s for a better ride or to utilize off-road tires... what’s your point!

ah man, which other gunshops are getting these beasts? re-up? lol!

I also find it messed that people buy them to sell them for two or three times more. I certainly couldn't do that but that's me LOL I'd keep it forever ...

Got mine today. Blued with a drum. Got to say I think personally it’s of better manufacturing quality than the fixed stock T81 I had last year. Blueing is nicer, machining on the bolt and carrier looks cleaner , receiver cover fits a lot easier , overall I’m happier with this than I was with my original T81 as far as fit ‘n finish goes.
One thing I’m not sure of though is the rear sight. It goes from 1 to 3 to 4 , there’s no “2” setting , there is a 5 but it doesn’t seem to want to go all the way to it and actually drops the rear sight lower than the 4 setting by a c**t hair. Not sure whats going on there , will see if it comes up as a common thing or if somethings f**ky on mine in particular.
Trigger feels about the same as the original T81 I had. Not great but not bad either. On par with a half decent sks trigger.
The drum is pretty cool , I can see how the plate kit would go in fairly straight forward. As it is the plate doesn’t bother me as far as capacity goes but it would be better to have it in proper configuration with the forth-coming kit for authenticity.
The 5/30 mags are identical to the ones that came with my original T81 , nothing of note to report there.
Overall this thing is pretty damn cool , I’d be lying if I said I almost hesitated in taking it out the wrapping and just keeping it in the box for a rainy day pay check lol but that ain’t what I got it for. Got a couple crates of Romanian surplus here that I plan on blasting through this LMG at the utmost possible dispatch lol

I find it messed there’s an actual demand created by people who will pay extra money just to have it “right now!”. Since when did gun owners turn into game console or Apple type fanatics?

Had one in my cart but decided to see how it goes first. I don’t really care to be the first guy to get one. After some positive range reports I’ll probably buy one in the next batch. If no more are imported, oh well. Still not paying 2x retail and I’ll just move along.
