Been there when each one was produced!
Left, a 7X57 fired in a 30-06. The 98 Mauser extractor held the case close
enough to touch off the primer. Could have been a lot worse.
Right, a 300 Win Mag fired in 300 Wby Mag. Not too serious, but not good for the chamber either.
30-06 fired in a Parker-Hale 308 Norma Magnum. Amazingly, the action vented the gas safely down through the magazine, away from the shooter.
And, for the grand finale, we have a 280 Rem fired in a 270 Win!
Didn't think this was possible, but the guy got the bolt closed and fired the rifle. If you look closely, you can see the smeared 28 of the 280 headstamp. Not the best way to produce a rimmed case!
All four rifles, after being checked out, are still going strong.
