Just look at the gun. Take a hacksaw 2" from the action, and saw off that little annoying piece of wood called a stock, and now you have a handgun. Its that easy. It can be converted to a handgun with 2 vertical slices of a hacksaw.

So in other words, exactly like a non-restricted Browning Buckmark carbine?

The fact that this classification surprises anyone makes me laugh! FFS people it's the RCMP!

The Liberals stacked the bureaucracies including the DOJ, the RCMP, the CFOs, the Supreme Court, the lower courts, the Crown Attorneys offices with their patronage appointed clones.

Like the political version of "The invasion of the body snatchers".

It'd take 20 years of CPC governments to purge them all and the CPC ain't gonna be around that long.

Oh, i think you'll find they will.

I think for the first half at least of this century they'll be in far more often than they're not. The libs weren't in 'all the time' either, they were just in the most. And the CPC will be as well.

We'll have them in the next 8 years almost guaranteed. And certainly they're most likely to be in another 4 after that. Beyond that it's hard to predict but i'd bet good money that if they do lose power, it'll only be for 4 years and more likely 2 (probably to a minority gov't). Then they'll be back.

It will take a long time, there's no doubt. But we'll get there in the end.

In the meantime - the secret will be to change the laws to remove the potential for abuse away from some groups like the rcmp to limit their ability to screw with us.

So, it's restricted based on something you could POSSIBLY do that would be against the law in the first place (were it NR)?

Actually, now that I think about it, if it's Restricted, then isn't it totally legal to bring this thing down to as little as 107mm? Hmmmm... You'd probably sell them a lot faster if they had a nice short 12" barrel or so.

I don't want to hijack this thread and the following comments are not reflective of my own choices but ....

Both the Liberals and the NDP are seeking new leadership. While it is unlikely, should either party choose a vibrant, charismatic leader, that person could easily overthrow Harper's Conservatives. More likely, although still a longshot, the Liberals and NDP could combine. Remember, that is how Harper brought the Conservatives to power in the first place, by uniting the right. A united left is very likely to resume the Liberals' old "Natural Ruling Party" mantle.

Best bet for Conservatives: support Libs and NDP in equal measure. :p

PS - don't worry about Justin Trudeau. He's no more likely to reinvigorate the Liberals than Jules Lennon was to reunite the Beatles.

So if you reverse their logic (for lack of better words) the Remington XP100 shouldn't be restricted?!!
Just when I thought I had found my next chicken gun!

The XP-100 is below 26" in overall length, therefore it is restricted.

If it was non-restricted, and I assume it's double action, would be subjected to the semi-auto minimum barrel length rule?

Trying to lead to... can we bring in a different DA Revolver rifle, maybe even a 16" barrelled one and have it be non-res?

Welcome to Canada! ;)
Just arrive yesterday?
Just imagine how I felt when I was told I couldn't bring some of my favorite hunting guns (3 revolvers + 1 carbine) in because they were "prohibited".
How did things get to such a deplorable state in this country in regards to personal freedoms?
That Trudeau and his disciple Cretin really did a number on you guys.
I mentioned the Circuit Judge at my Canadian club and was told we couldn't do anything about it so I might as well shut up and suck it up.
That's the attitude on the part of shooters that the antis love.

As long as there are people whose government jobs for life depends on it, you don't need any freedoms - they are privileges. I would like the carbine better if it was .45 Colt. However restricteds are not really that interesting to me (refer to my first point).

How is it any different then the Browning Buckmark rifles?

The Buckmark rifles aren't built on Buckmark pistol frames.

If all you can do with a gun is put holes in a piece of paper at an "approved range" presuming you can get an anti-gun CFO to issue you an ATT the gun is useless to you and YOU DO NOT OWN that gun. The government does.

IF the LGR is repealed and purged the next order of business should be getting rid of the "restricted" / ATT nonsense as well as disband the expensive and utterly useless (in regards to public safety) CFO fiefdoms.

In Orillia, Ontario we have umpteen dozen highly paid OPP officers shuffling useless paper in air conditioned offices as part of the CFO bureaucracy that has an express government mandate and mission to harass law abiding citizens, NOT criminals.

What's wrong with that picture?

There are non restricted single action pistol 'carbines' for sale in Canada, but i'm not familiar with any doubles.

I used to own an Uberti revolving carbine in .45LC that had a SA revolving action and an 18" barrel.
It was non-restricted and it was also a useless little thing with a brass butt that had real sharp ends that stuck in your shoulder when you tried to aim it.
I dumped it in trade for an used Belgium Browning BLR in .308 Win which I still have.
Boy did I get the better of that trade.
The BLR was barely used and the guy was for some reason quite unknown to me infatuated with the Uberti.
I didn't take as long as a heartbeat to give the nod to that deal.
The Uberti was non-restricted but had a revolver action.
Why is Rossi revolving rifle any different?

Why the hell is the circuit judge restricted?!? Why would an 18.5 inch barreled shotgun be a restricted firearm?

Why would anybody waste money on a rifle/shotgun designed for hunting that will get you a mandatory 4 year sentence (unauthorized restricted firearm + ammo) if you get caught hunting with it?

I'm afraid our friend Gary from Wanstalls and those Circuit Judge paperweights are going to grow old together in his store.
